The first season of Kristen Wiig’s comedy TV series, Palm Royale, is officially done and dusted. Now, we are mere weeks away from season two.

Set against the colourful retro backdrop of Palm Beach in 1969, this true underdog narrative follows protagonist Maxine Simmons, played by Kristen, who attempts to cross the threshold into Floridian high society.

The plot explores the human experience of envy and desire as it examines how far one woman is willing to go, to climb the social ladder.

Who stars in Palm Royale?

Our favourite SNL alumna Kristen Wiig not only stars as the main character Maxine Simmons, but also works alongside Laura Dern as an executive producer.

Joining Kristen is a star-studded ensemble cast including Allison Janney, Ricky Martin, Josh Lucas, Leslie Bibb, Amber Chardae Robinson, Mindy Cohn, Julia Duffy, Laura Dern and Kaia Gerber.

The second season also welcomes some new faces including John Stamos, Patti LuPone, Vicki Lawrence and Matt Rogers.

Ensemble cast members for the upcoming season include Claudia Ferri, Jason Canela, Jordan Bridges, James Urbaniak, Roberto Sanchez, Rick Cosnett and Ryan Dorsey.

What is the release date for Palm Royale?

Every episode from the first season is currently available to stream on Apple TV+.

Meanwhile, the Palm Royale season two will air on November 12 on the streaming giant. One episode will be released weekly until January 14.

What is the plot for Palm Royale season two?

After a scandalous public breakdown, Maxine is a social pariah. But she’s willing to fight for her spot in town.

“She’ll have to draw on her deep well of cleverness and cunning to prove, once and for all, that not only does she belong, but she just might have what it takes to rule this town,” the synopsis read. “Along the way she will uncover untold truths and finally understand what this town is truly built on… secrets, lies, and the occasional felony.”

Is Palm Royale based on a book?

The series is loosely based on Juliet McDaniel’s novel, Mr and Mrs American Pie. This novel follows Palm Springs socialite Maxine, whose husband leaves her. After finding herself on the outs of society and on a mission to be crowned Mrs. American Pie, Maxine must find – or create – the perfect family to win the pageant.
