Following Australia’s incredible success at the 2026 Winter Olympics, all eyes are on our para-athletes who have taken to the slopes in northern Italy.
Like the Winter Olympics, the Paralympics are being held in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, with 12 athletes and two guides across four sports representing Australia.
The 2026 Winter Paralympics will take place across nine days, from March 7 to March 15, 2026 AEDT.
The pressure was certainly on for our para-athletes! Australia has taken home a medal at every Winter Paralympics since 1992.
Mere days into the competition, one athlete has already continued this tradition. But with many more medals to be won, The Weekly is confident in our athletes.
Below, is a tally of all the medals won during the 2026 Winter Paralympics.
Ben Tudhope
Silver in Snowboard cross
The first medal in the Paralympics 2026 was claimed by 26-year-old Ben Tudhope. Winning silver in the snowboard cross was an incredible defeat for Ben, who had dislocated his right shoulder during the first heat.
“The medical team up top handled me so well. We decided I can keep on going after that injury,” he said on the Today show.
“It doesn’t hurt, but to actually go through that, to go through the process of going, ‘Oh my God, I’ve got this injury’, but then being able to go through the rounds and get this medal is insane.”

Who are the athletes representing Australia in the 2026 Winter Paralympics?
There are twelve para-athletes and two guides competing in these Paralympics, represeting Australia. The team will compete in four sports: Para alpine skiing, Para snowboard, Para biathlon, and Para cross-country skiing.
