At just 16-years-old, Indra Brown has not only made her Winter Olympic debut at the 2026 Games but also achieved an incredible milestone.
On Thursday night AEDT, Indra finished fourth in the seven-metre halfpipe with a score of 87.5, meaning the high school student has qualified for the women’s freeski halfpipe.
“Amazing,” Indra reflected on her run. “To be able to put two runs down at my first Olympics. It’s just a relief, and I’m just enjoying it so much.”
Indra’s talent and skill has even caught the eye of reigning Olympic champion, Eileen Gu, 22. Following Indra’s most recent run, Eileen praised the rising star.
“Her ski style reminds me a lot of myself, especially in the pipe. The way she grabs the axis that she has in the pipe, going from slope to pipe, I think you really see that kind of DNA shift, which is really special,” Eileen said at the time.
“It makes me really happy. I think she’s going to be really good for the future of women’s pipe skiing. I’ve been looking for someone like that for a while, and she, I think, is the real deal.”
With the freeski halfpipe qualifying event taking place soon, all eyes are on the youngest member of Australia’s 2026 Winter Olympics.

Who is Indra Brown?
Melbourne-raised Indra Brown first began skiing at five years old, having spent several years in Canada. By the time she was 12, Indra began her journey into freeski halfpipes.
Has Indra Brown competed before?
While Indra made her Olympic debut in 2026, she has professionally competed before.
In December 2025, she started competing in World Cup events. From four games, she ranked third, second, first and fourth. Based on points, she was ranked number one in the World Cup, and became the youngest Australian to ever win a World Cup medal in any winter sport.
