MasterChef Australia‘s favourite couple, Sarah Todd and Declan Cleary, are guests on the latest episode of The Australian Women’s Weekly Love Stories podcast, sharing their miraculous birth story, which nearly cost Sarah her life.
The two have been linked together since Declan piped up “20 seconds of courage” to ask Sarah out on a date (right before she was going into an elimination round on MasterChef Australia: Back to Win). She said yes, and the two quickly fell for one another.
Since appearing on the show, Sarah and Declan have travelled with Sarah’s son from her first marriage numerous times, moved in together, got pregnant with twins, and are now parenting the twins and Phoenix together in their new home in Melbourne.

Eagle-eyed fans spotted the gorgeous engagement ring on Sarah’s finger in September. Since then, Declan confirmed to numerous outlets that he and Sarah were planning to marry. He then also let the cat out of the bag when he mentioned his “happy fiancée” in an Instagram story.
So, a new home, healthy babies, a happy family, and an engagement. The next stage is the wedding. So when will it be?
Because the two have been quiet about their engagement, it’s not too surprising that they are keeping their wedding plans under wraps for now. They do have two lovely twin baby girls to look after!
However, in April 2026, Sarah took part in a partnership with Michael Hill.
In the caption, she wrote: “With the big day getting closer, I’ve found so much inspiration at the Michael Hill Bridal Event, from finding the perfect wedding band for Dec to timeless diamond pieces I know I’ll treasure forever.”

Now, “Dec” is what Sarah calls Declan. But could “Dec” mean December? Spring and autumn are the most popular periods to get married in Australia. At least, that’s according to the most recent data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS). This could be as it’s not too hot or too cold for most people. However, Sarah is from Mackay, Queensland. She also spent a large part of her career in India. So, perhaps she might be keen on a warm season for her wedding day!
In the video, Sarah asks whether it’s okay for a bride to choose the wedding band for the groom. Declan responded in the comments that “yesss you can choose for me”.
We can’t wait to see their wedding come together. We’re sure the menu for the day will be filled with delicious eats and even MasterChef Australia callbacks!
