Krissy Marsh was the dark horse dressed in fabulous clothing on The Traitors Australia.
She was consistently underestimated, yet always the one racing to finish challenges and add more money to the prize pot, even if it was to her own detriment. Like risking murder by voluntarily handing over her shield or cutting her own hair.
There was a moment mid-season when Kirby was plotting which Faithful to seduce. For a moment, we considered what amazing things Krissy could achieve as a Traitor.
“I just wear my heart on my sleeve. I’m a very emotional person, and I would have broken. I think that’s why I was never chosen [to be a Traitor],” Krissy explained to The Weekly the morning after The Traitors finale aired. “You have to be a certain type of person. I don’t want to say narcissistic, but you’ve got to be a little bit removed.”
Krissy, a mother of three and the self-described “Mum of the Manor”, couldn’t be further from a Traitor. After surviving to the final three, Krissy was the last person to be banished. With one Faithful and one Traitor remaining, the $206,000 prize pot went to Kirby, the original Traitor.
With her banter, charm and intelligence, The Real Housewives of Sydney star built strong relationships with almost everyone. But her dearest friend was Keira. Which is why, when Krissy watched the show and discovered the depths of Keira’s betrayal, it stung the most.
“Keira was the one person who I thought knew me inside out. I never questioned her for one second,” Krissy confessed. “To watch it back, and actually see [my banishment] wasn’t just a whim, but she was actually plotting this for a couple of days… that gobsmacked me — gutted me!
“It’s like when you’ve got that really good friend, and you feel really betrayed. I will call her today and say, ‘Listen, Keira, I can’t believe you were plotting that.’”
“But Kirby was a very good manipulator. She’s not only strategic, but she’s very manipulative.”
The week of the finale, Krissy hosted fellow Faithfuls Claudia, twins Josh and Luke, and Lawson for a special Tuesday Night Dinner — something she’s become loved for on social media.
“Lawson is just wonderful, he’s like my son and so were the twins,” she recalled. “They really looked after me. When I first had Lawson over to the house for Tuesday night dinner, the kids said ‘oh mum, he’s so rogue,’ but he’s one of the most likeable, fabulous people.”
“That’s the wonderful thing about The Traitors: you’re all in there together, and you have 21 new friends! There’s not one I don’t adore and respect.”
