There’s a new team sitting at the Today show desk, and many want to learn more about its new co-host Tom Steinfort.
After many years watching Sarah Abo and Karl Stefanovic on the breakfast program, the Channel Nine program received a shake-up in 2026. Joining Tom on the panel is co-host Sylvia Jeffreys, who is no newbie when it comes to the Today show.
So, with Tom Steinfort becoming a very regular face, The Weekly is diving into his life away from the Today show, family, and career below.
Is Tom Steinfort married?
Tom, 42, met his wife Claudia Jukic, through mutual friends in 2017. After some insisting from his friends, Tom organised drinks in Surry Hills, Sydney. It was supposed to be one drink with Claudia, a magazine style editor, but quickly turned into dinner.
“I left thinking, ‘Fantastic, I think that went really well, can’t wait to catch up again’, whereas Claudia’s impression was that I’d rushed out of there,” he told 9Honey in 2019. “She thought I was not interested, I was very interested, and I thought she wasn’t that keen.”
Although Claudia was a “hard nut to crack,” they ultimately fell in love. And a year later, Tom planned a beautiful proposal in Bali which almost came crumbling down when airport security pulled up an X-ray screening of his luggage, with the ring clearly visible. Tom totally played it cool — as in he quickly tried to usher his then-girlfriend away from the screen.
But this isn’t where he popped the question. Bali was merely a stopover on their journey to Croatia, where he asked for her hand.
On August 29, 2019, Tom and Claudia ventured back to the European country and said ‘I do’ in a beautiful wedding ceremony, followed by an incredible reception at the 16th-century Hvar Fortress.
Does Tom Steinfort have any children?
After marrying the loves of their lives, Tom and Claudia welcomed two children, daughters named Frederikke, four, and Lotte, one.
On September 21, Tom announced Claudia was pregnant with their third child.
“I’m excited to share that my beautiful wife Claudia is expecting as well, we’ve got baby number three on the way. Very exciting,” Tom shared on the Today show. “We didn’t find out [the sex] with the first two so we said let’s just fly blind and see what happens.”
Where have you seen Tom Steinfort before?
Tom’s journalism career began in 2004 at Ballarat, later shifting to Nine News Melbourne as a news reporter.
Prior to working as co-host on Today, Tom’s most prominent gigs were as a reporter on A Current Affair and 60 Minutes.
