Despite stepping away from the royal family in 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle still regularly make the news and headlines around the world.
That’s because the couple have pursued various other endeavours that have kept them in the public eye.
For instance, Meghan hosted a podcast in 2022 and Harry released a memoir in 2023. Not to mention, the couple are heavily involved with their organisation, The Archewell Foundation, and both still regularly attend various charity events.

Prince Harry attended the annual Concordia Summit on September 23, 2024 and took part in a discussion with two of The Diana Award’s Legacy Award recipients, Chiara Riyanti Hutapea Zhang and Christina Williams, chaired by The Diana Award’s CEO Dr Tessy Ojo.
The Diana Award was founded 25 years ago, inspired by the late Princess Diana’s belief that young people have the power to change the world. It’s the only nonprofit set up in memory of the late Princess of Wales and it’s mission is to empower young people to create change. The Diana Award’s Legacy Award celebrates the achievements of the 20 most outstanding Diana Award recipients from the previous two years who have changed the world.
During the discussion, which focused on the mental health issues young people face in this day and age, Prince Harry said to Chiara and Christina:
“I applaud you for certainly, [at] your age, to be on this stage, to have the confidence that you do, and to be able to speak as clearly and as passionately as you do. And I know that my mum would be incredibly proud of you guys, not just you, but all of the award winners.”
The Duke of Sussex went on to say, “The reason why I wanted to go last is because these guys are the ones that give me hope… I’ve said it years ago and I’ll say it again: the younger generation are, not putting too much pressure on you guys, you are what give me hope. The courage that you have gives me hope, because every single one of us needs courage in order to really move the dial and create positive change in today’s world, probably more so now than ever.
“So thank you to you guys for giving me and probably a whole lot of people in this room hope, and now we need to listen — constantly listen — and then act on the advice and the vision that you have, because otherwise it’s your future that’s being stolen from you, and that is unacceptable.”

On the royal family’s official Instagram and X (formerly known as Twitter) accounts, they posted of picture of Harry along with the capton, “Wishing The Duke of Sussex a very happy 40th birthday today!”
This marked the first time since Queen Elizabeth died in 2022 that the royal family has publicly wished Harry a happy birthday; last year, King Charles made it clear that social media posts were limited to only highlight working members of the royal family. Perhaps that’s all set to change?

In a newly released preview for an upcoming joint interview with CBS Sunday Morning – the first joint interview the couple have done since their infamous 2021 interview with Oprah – Meghan says:
“Our kids are young, they’re three and five. They’re amazing.”
The main topic the couple discuss in the upcoming interview (which will air on August 4) are the dangers of children using social media, as the couple are set to launch a new initiative next week to address online bullying.
“All you want to do as parents is protect them. And so as we can see what’s happening in the online space, we know that there’s a lot of work to be done there. We’re just happy to be able to be a part of a change for good,” Meghan adds in the preview.

ITV premiered its new documentary Tabloids on Trial on July 25, and it features a sit down interview with Prince Harry – unsurprising as he’s been vocal about his disdain for tabloids and papparazzi for decades and, for the last few years, has been publicly pursuing lawsuits against several publications for alleged phone hacking and other unlawful acts.
But during the interview, Harry also explained how tabloids were “central” to causing the rift between him and the royal family. Reporter Rebecca Barry asked the Duke of Sussex, “To what extent do you think your determination to fight the tabloids destroyed the relationship with your family?”
“I think that’s certainly a central piece to it,” he replied.
“That’s a hard question to answer because anything I say about my family results in a torrent of abuse from the press. I’ve made it very clear that this is something that needs to be done. It would be nice if we did it as a family,” Harry continued.
“I believe that, again, from a service standpoint and when you’re in a public role, that these are the things that we should be doing for the greater good. But I’m doing this for my reasons.”
Harry then added, “I think everything’s that played out has shown people what the truth of the matter is. For me, the mission continues. But it has caused part of a rift,” when asked about the royal family’s decision not to speak out about tabloids and papparazzi.
