Who is the most popular member of the British royal family? If you ask many of The Australian Women Weekly’s team and its audience, the answer would most likely be Princess Catherine.
Generally, they’d be right. The Princess of Wales, along with her husband Prince William, were at the top of the list of favourite royals just months ago.

According to July 2026 YouGov Ratings, the pair were the most positively viewed royals, with 74-76 percent seeing Princess Catherine and Prince William in a favourable light.
These same reports revealed 68 percent of Brits believed King Charles was doing a good job, the highest recorded by YouGov’s tracker. In his four years on the throne, the monarch has remained quite resilient despite his cancer diagnosis and ongoing treatments. But his devotion to royal duties seemingly accrued favour. .
A new survey data, released mid-October 2026, has revealed a different member has made number one.
With 67 percent popularity, Princess Anne has become the most popular member of the British royal family. The Princess Royal is disliked by only 7 percent, and a net approval rating of 60 percent.
Since the last report, Princess Anne has been on a number of official engagements including Sir Kevin Sinfield, traveled to Norway for King Harald’s funeral, and presented a trophy at the Ascot Racecourse.

Earlier this year, her approval rating was 55 percent.
Tracking behind Princess Anne is Princess Catherine at 64 percent, Prince William at 62 percent and King Charles at 53 percent. Meanwhile, Camilla, Queen Consort has a popularity rate of 33 percent.
Despite Prince Harry and Meghan constantly making headlines after their return to the UK, their popularity percentages remain low. The Duke of Sussex’s ratings have dropped in recent months from 33 percent to 29 percent.
Meanwhile, Meghan remains consistent with only 22 percent of Brits having a good opinion of the American actress. Both the Duke and Duchess’ results majorly contradict their fame percentages, both voted in the high 90s.
