What’s happening with Prince William and Princess Catherine?

July 7, 2025

Twenty years since the horrifying attack, Prince William laid flowers honouring the victims of the July 7 London bombings. Joined by survivors and families of those who lost their lives, the Prince of Wales was amongst the 500-strong crowd at Hyde Park.

The first flowers were laid at 8.50am, followed by a minute’s silence. The time coincided with the moment the first bomb went off in a co-ordinated series of explosions which hit three London Underground trains along with a double decker bus during the busy London rush hour. There were 52 killed and 700 injured by the four suicide bombers in what was the worst single terrorist atrocity on British soil.

The names of the 52 were read out during the following service at St Paul’s Cathedral while the Memorial Garden established at Hyde Park comprises of 52 pillars to mark each life lost.

King Charles also released a statement, marking the anniversary, paying special tribute to the emergency workers and brave bystanders who rushed in to help.

“We remember with profound sadness the 52 innocent people who were killed in senseless acts of evil – and the enduring grief of their loved ones,” the King said.

“We recall, too, the hundreds more who carry physical and psychological scars, and pray that their suffering may ease as the years pass.”

The monarch went on to note the “extraordinary courage and compassion” people displayed during the “darkness of that day.”

“The selfless bravery of our emergency services, transport workers, and fellow citizens who rushed towards danger to help strangers reminds us of the very best of humanity in the face of the very worst,” he went on.

“It is this spirit of unity that has helped London, and our nation, to heal,” the King said. “As we remember those we lost, let us therefore use this 20th anniversary to reaffirm our commitment to building a society where people of all faiths and backgrounds can live together with mutual respect and understanding, always standing firm against those who would seek to divide us.”

“You put on a sort of brave face, stoicism through treatment, treatment’s done – then it’s like ‘I can crack on, get back to normal,” Princess Catherine told staff and patients of her own experience while visiting the RHS Wellbeing Garden at Colchester Hospital.

“But actually the phase afterwards is really difficult, you’re not necessarily under the clinical team any longer, but you’re not able to function normally at home as you perhaps once used to.

“But it’s life-changing for anyone, through first diagnosis or post treatment and things like that, it is a life-changing experience both for the patient but also for the families as well.

“And actually it sometimes goes unrecognised, you don’t necessarily, particularly when it’s the first time, appreciate how much impact it is going to have.

“You have to find your new normal and that takes time… and it’s a rollercoaster it’s not one smooth plane, which you expect it to be. But the reality is it’s not, you go through hard times.”

The royal was in Colchester to learn more about how gardens in health care settings can contribute to both postitive health outcomes as well as support speedier recovery.

On Prince William’s birthday, his family wishes him a happy birthday with a sweet post on the official Instagram page for the Prince and Princess of Wales. The image confirmed what many royalists have expected: Orla, the royal pooch, has had her puppies!

The post was captioned: “Happy birthday! Love C, G, C, L, Orla and the puppies!”

The accompanying image includes three of the (confirmed) four puppies which Orla recently gave birth to. Kensington Palace confirmed that the image was taken in June 2025, so we would estimate that the pups are a couple of months old by now!

Orla was gifted to the Prince and Princess of Wales by James Middleton, Catherine’s brother, in 2020 after their previous dog, Lupo, passed away.

That wasn’t the only birthday wish that the prince received. The official account of the Royal Family also posted an image of Prince William from when he was on a visit to the Duchy of Cornwall back in May.

The caption read: “Happy Birthday to The Prince of Wales!”

Instead of heading to Day Three of Royal Ascot 2025, Prince William and Australian actress Cate Blanchett visited Colorfix, a UK company and finalist for the Earthshot Prize.

While there, the royal and the actress shared a laugh over some experiments as they were given a tour. They went to four laboratories at the facility, each of which has a step in the company’s environmentally-friendly fabric dye.

According to reports, Prince William admitted that he should have paid more attention in school, as some of the science was going over his head.

“Today has just made me realise I should have listened in all of my chemistry lessons. Going back over all those old notes like, ‘Damn, why didn’t I pay more attention’.”

Kensington Palace has confirmed that Princess Catherine has pulled out of her planned attendance at Royal Ascot.

The royal, who has returned to full-time duty after her cancer announcement, was understood to be “disappointed” to not attend but is still working to find “the right balance” as she navigates her engagements.

Princess Catherine was due to arrive in the second carriage alongside husband Prince William and golfer Justin Rose and his wife Kate Phillips.

In Catherine’s absence, Prince William arrived in the first carriage of the royal procession alongside The King, Queen and Prince Saud bin Khalid Al Saud, of the Saudi Arabian royal family. His mother-in-law, Carole Middleton, was also at the event, as was James Middleton and his wife Alizee Thevenet. Prince Edward and Princess Anne were also among the royals at the event.

The Wales family celebrated Father’s Day in the UK with a sweet family snap on their Instagram account. The carousel includes a sweet before-and-after shot from a recent family shoot of the royals.

The first image shows Prince William with his children standing and smiling and the second shows the four of them laughing and tumbling on the ground.

It was captioned: “Happy Father’s Day, Papa (before and after!) We love you! G, C & L 💖”

So that would be Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

It appears the cute family pic was taken during the same photoshoot for Prince Louis’s seventh birthday, as all the family members are wearing the same outfits.

Prince William sat down with Sir David Attenborough to speak about his experiences diving around the world to promote Sir David’s latest documentary, Ocean with David Attenborough.

The Prince of Wales has long been an advocate for the environment and has called Sir David an inspiration on the issue, ahead of his own documentary web series Guardians, which depicts the work that conservationists around the world do to protect wildlife in their regions. And of course, Princess Catherine has also released a seasonal web series dubbed Mother Nature which showcases her love of nature as well.

The topic of ocean conservation is of importance to Prince William, as evident in its inclusion in the Earthshot Prize “Revive our Oceans” category. The Earthshot Prize awards will happen later this year in Rio de Janeiro.

On May 5, the British Royal Family celebrated VE Day: Victory in Europe Day. Technically, the day was declared on May 8, 1945, but the Brits celebrated with a military procession a couple of days earlier.

The Prince and Princess of Wales and their children, George, Louis, and Charlotte, looked like an absolute picture as they watched the flypast in London. Louis had some hilarious moments on the balcony with his mum as he watched the flypast. See more here.

Prince William wore an RAF No.1 uniform, while Catherine wore a deep maroon-purple Emilia Wickstead dress and a matching hat by Sean Barratt (a combo she has worn before on a royal state visit in 2022). And, in a touching tribute to the day, she donned a RAF wings brooch on her lapel.

The young princes wore smart suits and blue ties, and the young Princess Charlotte, who has just celebrated her 10th birthday, wore a lovely tartan coat with her hair pulled back in a double plait.

A few short hours later, to celebrate May Day, the royal couple released a teaser video for something called “Mother Nature”. Since its release, there has been plenty of speculation as to what it could be. Is Princess Catherine going to release a documentary about her love of nature? Are they releasing a photography book, knowing the family’s love of photography?

Following their travels, Prince William held a reception for the members of the Victoria Cross and George Cross Association, of which he is the President. He was the joint host along with his father King Charles and Queen Camilla.

Princess Catherine released a short film titled Scouts and Access to Nature on April 15. In the film, the Princess of Wales (who is also the Joint President of Scouts) discusses the importance of the natural world and its ability to support our health and wellbeing with Dwayne Fields, Chief Scout.

When asked by Dwayne what she thinks about while out in nature, Catherine said:

“I find it a very spiritual and very intense emotional reconnection, I suppose, these environments.

“Not everyone has that same relationship perhaps with nature, but it is so, therefore meaningful for me as a place to balance and find a sort of sense of peace and reconnection in what is otherwise a very busy world.”

The film was shot last month near the shores of Lake Windermere in northwest England. Catherine and Dwayne were accompanied by Scouts and Scout Explorers from 1st Buddha’s Light in Greater Manchester and 1st Buddha’s Light.

During the trip, these Scouts and Scout Explorers undertook a challenge to earn their Naturalist Badge.

“She said she’d love to take the kids Down Under now that they’re a bit older,” Russell said while on the Today show.

“She said Prince George still can’t believe he’s actually been to Australia and New Zealand, having visited with his mum and dad when he was just a baby.”

Princess Catherine revealed her 2025 St Patrick’s Day plans on March 12. Her Royal Highness usually spends the Irish holiday with the Irish Guards, whom she became Colonel of in 2022 — a role she took over from her husband, Prince William. On March 17, Catherine will visit with the regiment at Wellington Barracks in London. Following that, she will join them for the annual St Patrick’s Day parade.

Ahead of the parade, she will present good conduct and long service medals to members of the regiment. As is tradition, Catherine will also present a bushel of shamrocks — an emblem of Ireland — to officers and guardsmen.

The event will mark her first at the barracks since 2023. She missed last year’s celebrations due to her abdominal surgery and subsequent cancer diagnosis. However, she revealed her illness to the public only five days after last year’s St Patrick’s Day.

On March 5, Prince William visited the Royal Berkshire Hospital to mark five years since the COVID-19 pandemic. Furthermore, his visit had the aim of highlighting the work of the charity. It works to help NHS staff, patients and local communities across the United Kingdom.

William and Princess Catherine have been patrons of the National Health Services Charities since December 2020. At one point, the future King was invited to attend a yoga class, but he quipped that he “can’t bend”.

After speaking with the staff and paying respects to volunteers and workers who had passed away during the pandemic, the heir to the throne was given a tour of the health and well-being garden and a polytunnel where vegetables are grown and donated to local groups to aid homeless people and others in need.

After travelling there by train, the royal couple first visited Pontypridd Market. While there, William and Catherine made a batch of traditional Welsh cakes with Theresa Conner, owner of The Welsh Cake Shop.

According to Theresa, Wills and Kate were flirtatiously competitive while baking; Kate asked her husband, “Those are so good. How did you do that?”

“Well I don’t know, my stunning baker skills. Mary Berry taught me everything I need to know,” William quipped. For context, both William and Catherine appeared on A Berry Royal Christmas with Mary in 2019.
