Queen Camilla has returned to work after recovering from a chest infection she contracted.
Her Majesty missed several royal engagements including the 2024 Remembrance Day services due to her illness.
However, as of November 12, 2024, Camilla is back to business as usual beginning with a reception for The Booker Prize Foundation at Clarence House.
The event was hosted in honour of the shortlisted titles and authors before the Booker Prize ceremony, which was held that evening in London.
In a video captured by an attendee, Her Majesty gave an update on her recovery while speaking with finalist and author Percival Everett.
“I’m on the mend, these things always take a bit of time to get rid of. You think you got rid of it, they just sort of hang on for a bit.”

Is Camilla Parker Bowles ill?
On November 5, Buckingham Palace shared the news that Queen Camilla was ill with a chest infection.
“Her Majesty The Queen is currently unwell with a chest infection, for which her doctors have advised a short period of rest,” the palace’s statement — first shared with People — read.
The statement went on to share that Camilla would miss several royal engagements due to her illness.
“With great regret, Her Majesty has therefore had to withdraw from her engagements for this week, but she very much hopes to be recovered in time to attend this weekend’s Remembrance events as normal. She apologises to all those who may be inconvenienced or disappointed as a result.”
These engagements included the annual Field of Remembrance event and a Buckingham Palace reception for Team Great Britain medalists who competed in the 2024 Paris Olympics and Paralympic Games.
Why was Camilla not at the Remembrance Service?
Despite hoping to be well enough to attend the 2024 Remembrance Service, Camilla did not recover from her chest infection in time.
The palace issued another statement on November 10 that read:
“Following doctors’ guidance to ensure a full recovery from a seasonal chest infection, and to protect others from any potential risk, Her Majesty will not attend this weekend’s Remembrance events.
“While this is a source of great disappointment to The Queen, she will mark the occasion privately at home and hopes to return to public duties early next week.”
