What’s the biggest cruise ship in the world?

The world’s biggest cruise ship is only less than a year old. Weighing 250,800 gross tonnes and stretching 365 metres in length, the Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas is the largest cruise ship in the world, and it was only christened in January 2024.

The mammoth ship has the ability to house a whopping 7,600 passengers as well as 2,350 crew members. After being announced as being the world’s largest cruise ships, cruise-goers snapped up rooms – selling out the ship’s maiden voyage within a few hours. Some especially keen holidaymakers even paid upwards of US$75,000 to nab a coveted spot on the debut voyage.

This ship isn’t just about size – it’s about experiences. Travellers can expect eight distinct neighbourhoods, each with its own unique theme and attractions. From adrenaline-packed thrills like the largest waterpark at sea to serene, family-friendly spaces, *Icon of the Seas* has something for everyone.
