Australian Survivor is returning in 2027, and this year the theme is Rivals! And that’s not the only new thing this season.
In addition to a new range of contestants, the location of Survivor is shifting from its traditional set in Samoa to the beaches of Malaysia.
No word on the premiere date. However, the show usually premieres in February, so mark your calendars!

Who is the host of Australian Survivor 2027?
After a reasonably successful season as its novice host, David Genat is returning to helm Survivor this season.
That being said, fans of the series are still calling out for Jonathan LaPaglia (JLP), the veteran host of the series, to return.
“Australian Survivor has seen some of the most epic blindsides over the last 10 years, but this one might just be the craziest of them all… because it happened to me,” JLP wrote on Instagram at the time of the “host-swap”.
We spoke with David following the announcement, and although he was surprised by the fandom’s resistance to the change, he said he was up for the challenge.
“I like pressure,” he told us. “I like proving people wrong.”
What is the theme of Australian Survivor 2027?
As mentioned, the theme is “Rivals” in the trailer for the upcoming series. It’s a “world-first theme” according to the first trailer.
David explains that both tribes are stacked with contestants with equal traits and attributes to the opposite tribe. There are rival twins, actors, lawyers and football players like AFL legends Heath Shaw and Adam Cooney, reigniting their Collingwood v Essendon rivalry. Meet the rivals here.
“Two tribes, perfectly matched, go head to head,” David says in the trailer. “Every player enters the trailer with a mirror: Same strengths, same smarts.”
One could also assume the same weaknesses…
