The Academy Awards nominee list is here! And with it, Emma Stone has broken two records, including one previously held by Meryl Streep.
The 37-year-old actress has received a total of seven Oscar nominations. As of 22 January 2026, the La La Land actress is the youngest woman and the second youngest person to receive seven nominations. She is up for the Best Actress and Best Film awards for Bugonia in 2026.
Before Emma, that record was held by Devil Wears Prada‘s Meryl Streep. Meryl received her seventh nomination in 1988.
The youngest person to receive seven nominations is Walt Disney, who accumulated that many by 1937 when he was just 34 years old.
However, it’s not the only Oscar record that Emma has broken with her latest nods.
The Bugonia actree is now the first woman ever to be nominated twice for both acting and producing in a single feature film. The first woman to do that was Frances McDormand in Nomadland (2021). Emma matched that feat in 2024 when she acted and produced Poor Things. That role also landed her Best Actress win.
Emma has won the Best Actress category twice before, for La La Land and Poor Things. If she wins in 2026, she will join a very exclusive club of women to have won three Oscars. That club includes Frances McDormand (for her performances in Fargo, Three Billboards Outisde Epping, Missouri, and Nomadland) and Katharine Hepburn, who won the award four times. Katharine is the record holder for the most acting wins. However, Meryl Streep also has won three acting Oscars, two for Best Actress (for Sophie’s Choice and The Iron Lady) and one for Best Supporting Actress (for Kramer vs. Kramer)
The woman to receive the most Oscar wins is costume designer Edith Head. She has eight Oscar wins and 35 nominations. She is the most awarded woman in Oscars history.

How many Oscars does Emma Stone have?
As mentioned, Emma Stone has two Oscars. She won Best Actress in 2017 for her performance in La La Land and Best Actress in 2024 for Poor Things.
However, Emma has been nominated multiple times.
She received the Best Supporting Actress nod in both 2015 and 2019 for her performances in Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) and The Favourite, respectively.
