Could Meghan Markle be back on our screens in a Suits reboot?

It's unlikely the show will be back for a tenth season, but the series creator hasn't ruled it out entirely!

Suits has become extremely popular in 2023, despite the fact that the 9-seasons-long series premiered over ten years ago in 2011, and ended three years ago in 2019.

But thanks to Netflix, Suits has had a serious resurgence. So much so, that fans recently speculated online whether the show will get a tenth season and/or a reboot.

However, series creator Aaron Korsh has quickly quashed those speculations.

Taking to X (the social media platform previously known as Twitter; thanks Elon Musk), Aaron announced on August 21:

“Let me say right off that there is no #Suits reboot or anything in the works. [The Writers Guild of America and Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists] Strike would have to end, some network or streamer would have to reach out and then we would have to collectively want to. Which is no small thing…”

Gabriel Macht as Harvey Specter, Patrick J. Adams as Mike Ross, Rick Hoffman as Louis Litt in Suits.

Aaron then partook in a Q&A, answering Suits fans’ many questions.

One question was in response to Aaron’s initial Tweet (are they still called Tweets, Elon?) and read, “WAIT WAIT WHAT I’M READING IS THAT WHEN THE STRIKE ENDS IF A NETWORK OR STREAMER REACHES OUT AND EVERYONE WANTS TO YOU WOULD DO IT?”

To which Aaron replied, “That’s what you’re reading but it ain’t what I’m writing. I would consider it but it’s not my priority creatively.”

Aaron’s thoughts on a potential Suits reboot seemingly echo what Gene Klein – who served as Suits’ executive producer for all 9 seasons – told TVLine in July 2023.

“In this era of reboots and reunions and all this other stuff… I’m expecting a call at some point. But I’m not aware of any serious conversations. It’s just one of those things where, in this day and age, you wouldn’t be surprised if somebody called you someday. But so far, nothing that I’m aware of,” Gene said.

However, despite Aaron and Gene’s comments, fans added further fuel to the Suits reboot fire, when Patrick J. Adams – who starred as Mike Ross in the series – took to Instagram on September 27 and posted multiple never-before-seen photos that were obviously taken back when he and the cast were filming Suits.

Many quickly speculated whether there was any significance to Patrick’s post beyond a simple ‘throwback’.

“We missed you guys, please do [a] new season,” one Instagram user commented.

“This better mean that a comeback season is incoming,” another said.

But within 24 hours of posting, Patrick deleted all of his Suits behind-the-scenes content, taking to his Instagram story to explain why; and inadvertently shutting down reboot rumours in the process.

“The last couple of days I foolishly and thoughtlessly let a trip down Suits memory lane distract me from the very real and ongoing fight everyone in @sagaftra continues to wage in its effort to win our membership realistic 21st century compensation and protections,” Patrick wrote.

“It was an embarrassing oversight for which I’m incredibly sorry,” he continued.

Of course, if Suits did somehow get the greenlight to produce a tenth season, the question on everyone’s lips would be whether Meghan Markle would return to play Rachel Zane.

When asked about whether Meghan would return to the series if it was rebooted, Gene said, “I would assume that’s just not possible.”

However, according to Meghan’s husband, Prince Harry, she originally left the show at the end of Season 7 mainly because of the Palace.

In his memoir Spare, Harry wrote: “Meg packed up her house, gave up her role in Suits. After seven seasons. A difficult moment for her, because she loved that show, loved the character she was playing, loved her cast and crew — loved Canada.

“On the other hand life there had become untenable. Especially on set. The show writers were frustrated, because they were often advised by the Palace comms team to change lines of dialogue, what her character would do, how she would act.”

So now that both Harry and Meghan have officially stepped away from their royal duties, surely the Palace wouldn’t be able to make such requests if Meghan did return for a tenth season of Suits?

Of course, we’re getting ahead of ourselves, and only time will tell whether Suits comes back and whether Meghan returns with it… Watch this space.
