If you’re experiencing streaming platform fatigue, there’s another platform to add to your queue. On Monday, March 31, 2025, Warner Bros. Discovery is launching its premium streaming service Max. On its launch, Foxtel’s Binge will be set to lose some of its most popular shows.
Warner Bros. Discovery will have a massive streaming content slate available on Max from HBO, Warner Bros. (of course), Discovery (hence the name), the DC Universe, and many more.
As many of our readers will be aware, a lot of HBO content currently lives on Foxtel’s Binge, which puts the future of the platform into contention. However, don’t fret if you’re worried you might not see the next season of And Just Like That…, Foxtel Group is entering into a partnership with the global giant. This means that Foxtel customers will be able to access Max streaming content at no extra cost. However, Binge itself will lose most of its HBO shows. Fortunately for Binge subscribers, according to a report from the AFR, The White Lotus will remain on the platform.

We predict that Warner Bros. Discovery Max will be popular for Aussies as it’ll have access to world-famous film franchises like Harry Potter, the DC Universe (think your Batman, Superman, and Joker films), The Lord of the Rings, Mad Max, and Dune.
It will also have top-tier television shows like the aforementioned The White Lotus and And Just Like That…, but also Friends (from April 1), House of the Dragon, Sopranos, Succession, and Outback Opal Hunters. Other iconic movies on its roster will be Barbie and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice to name just a couple.

However, the new streaming platform will have plenty of competition in the space with Netflix, Apple TV+, Amazon Prime Video, Stan, and Disney+ already having strong footholds Down Under.
The new-to-Australia streaming service Max will be available on the Apple app store and Google Play, as well as from its website. Like other streaming services, Max subscribers will be able to stream content on their smartphones, tablets, computers, gaming consoles, and smart TVs. As mentioned above, Max is entering into a partnership will Foxtel Group, so it will also be seamlessly integrated with Hubbl.
On its launch, Max will offer three subscription tiers: premium, standard, and ad-supported. The costs of these tiers have not been revealed. We will update you as soon as details become available.
