The Brutalist

The Brutalist has won numerous awards this season. So far, the period drama won Best Actor and Best Director at both the BAFTAs and Golden Globes. The film also won Best Motion Picture — Drama at the Golden Globes. The Brutalist stars Adrien Brody as a Hungarian-Jewish Holocaust survivor who emigrates to the United States, hoping to achieve the American Dream.

Demi Moore took home the Golden Globe for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy for her gripping performance in The Substance. This chilling body-horror film poignantly explores society’s obsession with youth and perfection.

A Real Pain

Kieran Culkin took home Best Supporting Actor at both the BAFTAs and Golden Globes for his performance in A Real Pain. The film follows two cousins who reunite for a Jewish heritage tour through Poland in honour of their late grandmother. However, their old tensions resurface against the backdrop of their family history.

Emilia Pérez

Zoe Saldaña won Best Supporting Actress at both BAFTAs and the Golden Globes for her performance in Emilia Pérez. The film also picked up the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy. Emilia Pérez follows a Mexican cartel leader who enlists a lawyer to help them disappear and transition into a woman.
