Prince William is certainly following in the footsteps of his father King Charles… But not in the way you’d think.
According to Hello, the Prince of Wales does not eat during royal engagements.
Well, to be more specific, William won’t eat a large meal – like lunch – while carrying out his duties.
While it’s unclear why William supposedly won’t eat much when at a public outing, we think he may just have taken a page out of his dear old dad’s book – Charles has skipped eating lunch for years.

This information was first revealed in 2018; Clarence House released 70 facts about His Majesty in honour of his 70th birthday, and one of the facts disclosed that Charles “does not eat lunch.”
And this surprising tidbit about the King was further confirmed earlier this year.
Julian Ross, Charles’ former press secretary, told the Mirror in January 2023:
“The King doesn’t eat lunch; so, an early lesson I learned when out on the road with him was to have a big breakfast or bring a few snack bars with you to keep you going.

“The working day is pretty relentless. Beginning with the radio news headlines and a breakfast of seasonal fruit salad and seeds with tea.”
Of course, not eating lunch isn’t the only similarity Charles and William share.
The most obvious one is that for the majority of their respective adult lives, they’ve known they’ll one day be the King of England. Now that Charles has ascended the throne, William is next in line.
The father and son are also both huge advocates for the environment, and both enjoy playing polo.
