Whether it is shared laughter with friends and family or a personal ritual that brightens the day, here, 11 women share the everyday moments that bring them the most joy.

“Between kids, work and life in general, my week is pretty busy. But no matter what I have going on, I always make the time to do a Zumba class.

Dancing brings me so much joy. There may be weeks where I struggle to pick up the moves if there are some new songs, but giving it a go always makes me smile. The music’s uplifting, the vibes are high, and I can really switch off from everything happening outside the room to focus on myself. There’s a real sense of community as well – women of all ages getting together to share their love of movement while encouraging each other on and off the dance floor!”

“My family and friends are really important to me, so staying connected to them brings me the most joy. Having lost my central vision due to a Macular Degeneration diagnosis, losing connection felt really confronting and upsetting. However, when I joined SeeWay, a new free support service for people experiencing changes to their vision, special moments such as looking at group chats on my phone, seeing photos, or having things read to me became possible again. When you have low vision, it’s the most beautiful thing not to have to read everything. So when the platform speaks to you, it’s like a wonder, it’s so lovely.”

“Something that brings me a lot of joy is going to get matchas with my work girlies in the morning – because I love my gals and I love matcha! I also love exercising and working out because it reminds me how lucky I am to have a healthy, working body, and it is also good for my mental health.”

Jennifer, 37, Commercial Strategy Manager

“When I pick up my kids from daycare, I like to sneak in and hang back so I can observe them as they’re playing, usually with each other. That moment when they notice me, you can see their eyes light up as they yell ”mummy!” excitedly, and they rush to get to me as quickly as possible for a big embrace. That connection is a small, but pure joy-inducing moment!”

“My greatest joy comes from my female friendships, their unconditional love and support, the way they understand me without explanation and how I’m always laughing with them, it fills my heart completely!”

“I love romance books, and I’ve found wonderful connections in both the reading and writing community. Every month, I catch up with my romance writer friends and we talk about what we’re working on, and help each other brainstorm and troubleshoot. There’s something special about a group of women joined by a common passion, sharing knowledge and helping each other achieve our writing dreams. I always walk away feeling inspired. And romance books themselves provide joy. One of my favourite activities is sitting on my front porch in the sunshine, reading a good romance novel.”

“A moment that brightens up my everyday and helps me feel connected to myself is playing a record and dancing around my apartment!”

“Having moved to a new area, discovering my local sauna has opened up a whole new world of joy for me. Not just for the ritual of the steam, which has done wonders for my happiness as well as my health, but for the sense of community I have found there with fellow devotees. It’s a gentle and calming space which encourages connection. Sitting together and sharing stories (along with a cup of herbal tea) is as essential to my experience as the water on the hot rocks. I’d go every day if I could!”

“The moments that bring me the most joy each day come from the morning routine I’ve created with my partner. The shared connected, and quality time sets us up for the day ahead.”

“Perhaps it’s simple, but watching my dogs run wild at the beach on a sunny day –jumping into waves, chasing after the ball – brings me pure joy. Their carefree chaos reminds me not to take life too seriously.”

“There are so many things that bring me joy, like brunch with my daughter, walking on the beach, waking in the morning with the cat curled up at my feet. I also love the call of magpies, the first jasmine in spring, orange blossoms, Saturday yoga, and of course Christmas morning.”
