Ash Barty is one of Australia’s most beloved sporting stars.
Over her short yet mighty tennis career, the 29-year-old won Australia’s hearts with her incredible talent and inspiring displays of sportsmanship, both on and off the court.
In 2022, at the age of 25, Ash shocked the tennis world when she announced she was retiring from the sport after winning the Australian Open.
Behind-the-scenes, Ash is also a mum to two young kids, who she shares with her husband, golfer Garry Kissick.

Who is Ash Barty’s husband?
Ash first met golfer Garry Kissick in 2016 while she was playing a round of golf at Brooklands Golf Club in Queensland.
The pair immediately hit it off and tied in the knot in 2022, with Ash later sharing a few photos from the day with fans on her Instagram.

“Garry and I have been together for a long time now and I had designed the ring with him,” she told News Corp at the time. “We are obviously excited now for the next chapter.”
“We were at home on the couch with the puppies. It was very much just us. It was perfect for us. Everyone has their unique way of doing it,” she continued.
“It was perfectly suited to us, that’s just me and who I am and who we are together.”
The former Australian Open winner said Garry is her biggest cheerleader.
“He’s extremely patient with me, and when we met he didn’t know a lot about tennis,” Ash told Vogue in 2022.
“He’s kind of been thrown in the very deep end in understanding what the tour is like and how much we’re apart … [But] he’s the best person to have around in the sense of switching off from tennis and being able to bring the fun and laughter when we are training and not be so serious all the time … I certainly wouldn’t want to share this journey with anyone else.”
“It feels normal, which is really heartwarming, knowing no matter where you go or what you do, home is where the heart is. Once you do get here, I am just the best version of myself again.”
How many kids does Ash Barty have?
In early 2023, the former tennis champ announced the couple were expecting their first child together.
“2023 set to be the best year yet. We are so excited for our new adventure ???” she wrote on Instagram at the time.
Later that year, the pair welcomed a baby boy who they named Hayden.

“Both my husband and I are very grateful that we’ve got two happy and healthy kids that have brought so much joy and chaos into our lives,” Ash told Stellar late last year.
“It’s about appreciating the little things, and I’m certainly able to enjoy those little things each and every day. I’m very lucky.”
They welcomed their second child, a daughter named Jordan, in June 2025.
“It’s been probably the best part of my life, being able to share this next chapter with my husband Garry, and we have no idea what we’re doing but he’s alive and he’s happy,” Ash told the Herald Sun before Jordan’s arrival.
“Terrified for what is going to come next but we’ll figure it out, I’m sure.”
