The alleged Beckham family estrangement has been merely speculation for years. However, on January 19 2026, Brooklyn Beckham addressed the feuding rumours with his parents, David and Victoria.
In an Instagram post, the eldest Beckham child claimed his parents have “controlled narratives” about the family in the media.
“I have been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private,” he began. “Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed.”
Brooklyn declared, “I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.”
“For my entire life, my parents have controlled narratives in the press about our family. The performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships have been a fixture of the life I was born into… I believe the truth always comes out.”
Lady Victoria Beckham and Sir David Beckham have not responded to the shocking claims.
The 26-year-old also made allegations regarding his parents’ “efforts to ruin my relationship” with his wife, Nicola Peltz Beckham, 31.
Brooklyn and Nicola’s wedding
Brooklyn and Nicola – the daughter of Nelson Peltz and Claudia Heffner Peltz – married on April 9, 2022. In his statement, Brooklyn claimed his parents made efforts to diminish the exciting day, including several claims about his mum.
“My mum cancelled making Nicola’s dress in the eleventh hour despite how excited she was to wear her design, forcing her to urgently find a new dress,” he wrote.
At the time, fans were shocked Nicola hadn’t worn a VB design. Instead, she wore Valentino couture. In a 2022 Variety interview, Nicola explained that she “really wanted to” wear VB. But, she discovered her “atelier couldn’t do it, so then I had to pick another dress.”
“My mum hijacked my first dance with my wife, which had been planned weeks in advance to a romantic love song,” Brooklyn’s post continued. “In front of our 500 wedding guests, Marc Anthony called me to the stage, where in the schedule was planned to be my romantic dance with my wife but instead my mum was waiting to dance with me instead.
“She danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone. I’ve never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life. We wanted to renew our vows so we could create new memories of our wedding day that bring us joy and happiness, not anxiety and embarrassment.”
They held their vow renewal in August 2025. While Nicola’s entire family was in attendance, there was no Beckham family in sight.
While Victoria has not responded to these comments, in a 2024 interview with Vogue, the former Spice Girl said: “I think Nicola’s wonderful… she’s so talented, she’s so passionate about what she does. Her and Brooklyn make each other super happy and that is wonderful to see. As a mother, that is all you want – for your kids to be happy.”
Before the wedding
Brooklyn has further claimed that his mother called him “evil” following a disagreement with the wedding ceremony’s seating plan.
“During the wedding planning, my mum went so far as to call me ‘evil’ because Nicola and I chose to include my Nanny Sandra, and Nicola’s Naunni at our table, because they both didn’t have their husbands. Both of our parents had their own tables equally adjacent to ours.”
Before the wedding day, the 26-year-old alleged his parents “pressured and attempted to bribe” him into “signing away the rights to my name.” According to Brooklyn, this “would have affected me, my wife, and our future children.”
“They were adamant on me signing before my wedding date because then the terms of the deal would be initiated.”
The estranged son then claimed Victoria “invited women from my past into our lives in ways that were clearly intended to make us both uncomfortable.”
Prior to his marriage to Nicola, Brooklyn had dated Chloe Grace Moretz, Madison Beer and a few more rumoured links.
No hope for reconciliation
Fans and media noticed the couple’s absence from Beckham events and milestones in recent years. However, Brooklyn claimed they had previously made attempts to visit their family.
Brooklyn revealed that he and Nicola travelled to London, England, to celebrate his dad’s birthday. However, he claimed they were “rejected for a week as we waited in our hotel room trying to plan quality time with him.”
“He refused all of our attempts, unless it was at his big birthday party with a hundred guests and cameras at every corner,” Brooklyn alleged. “When he finally agreed to see me, it was under the condition that Nicola wasn’t invited…. Later, when my family travelled to LA, they refused to see me at all.”
Brooklyn additionally alleged his brothers Romeo, 23, and Cruz, 20, blocked him on social media in mid-2025.
“My family values public promotion and endorsements above all else. Brand Beckham comes first… We’ve gone out of our way for years to show up and support at every fashion show, every party, and every press activity to show ‘our perfect family.’ But the one time my wife asked for my mum’s support to save displaced dogs during the LA fires, my mum refused.”
Victoria has not responded to any claims at this time.
“The narrative that my wife controls me is completely backwards. I have been controlled by my parents for most of my life. I grew up with overwhelming anxiety. For the first time in my life, since stepping away from my family, that anxiety has disappeared. I wake up every morning grateful for the life I chose, and have found peace and relief.
“My wife and I do not want a life shaped by image, press, or manipulation. All we want [is] peace, privacy and happiness for us and our future family,” he concluded.
