In 1986, Guy Pearce first shot to fame, thanks to the iconic soap opera Neighbours.
Guy played Mike Young, a kind-hearted but troubled teenager who became close friends with Scott Robinson (played by Jason Donovan) and Charlene Mitchell (played by Kylie Minogue).
But, in 1989, after three years on the soap, Guy left Neighbours and his career began to hit new heights.
Today, Guy could arguably be considered a Hollywood mainstay and is up for his first ever Oscar at the 2025 Academy Awards.

This neo-noir crime film features Guy as the ambitious, by-the-book detective Ed Exley, who gets caught in a web of corruption in 1950s Los Angeles. LA Confidential ended up winning two Oscars, including Best Supporting Actress for Kim Basinger.

The Proposition
In this gritty Australian Western, Guy plays an outlaw forced to hunt down his own brother to save his younger sibling. Written by Nick Cave, the film was widely acclaimed for its raw storytelling and brutal realism.

The King’s Speech
Guy has a supporting role in The King’s Speech as King Edward VIII, who abdicated the British throne for love and set the stage for his brother’s rise. The film – which stars Colin Firth as George VI – won four Oscars, including Best Picture, and Guy’s performance was widely praised for its nuance.

Iron Man 3
