The Correspondent is the debut novel by Virginia Evans. It follows Sybil Van Antwerp, a prickly retired lawyer in her 70s, as she writes letters to a variety of figures in an attempt to make sense of the world. However, after receiving correspondence from someone in her past, she’s forced to reckon with painful periods of her life.

Will The Correspondent be made into a movie?
Yes, as stated above, a movie has been announced! The script will be written by Cat Vasko, who will also executive produce the movie alongside the book’s author, Virginia Evans.
So far, the film is expected to faithfully follow the plot of the book. We’re curious to see it come to life on screen, as the book is written in an epistolary style. That means the story is told entirely through letters and emails.
Is Jane Fonda producing The Correspondent?
Yes, Jane Fonda is producing The Correspondent movie with Todd Lieberman. Todd recently produced The Housemaid film, based on another New York Times best-seller, this one by Freida McFadden.
