It joins a litany of Jane Austen adaptations.

If you love a Jane Austen adaptation, there are so many to choose from. If you prefer a faithful period-piece, you’re covered, and if you like a modern retelling, you likewise are sorted.

However, in 2026, we’re really spoiled for choice with two new adaptations getting the “Netflix treatment” (that’s the Pride and Prejudice series and the Sense and Sensibility film). Plus, there’s a brand-new modern take on Pride and Prejudice (aptly named Stuck Up and Stupid) coming to Stan.

The new eight-episode Stan Original series is based on Angourie Rice and Kate Rice’s novel of the same name, which went viral on #BookTok.

Here’s the description from Stan: “When a group of Hollywood stars arrives at the secluded Pippi Beach for the summer, local Lily Bennet quickly finds herself clashing with the superficial and arrogant movie star Dorian Khan. But as circumstance and undeniable chemistry continue to throw them together, Lily discovers that she and Dorian may have more in common than first thought.”

The series stars Angourie Rice presumably as Lily Bennet, Brendon Tremblay, Yvonne Strahovski, Raff Law, Antonia Eaton, Oliver Edis, Ed Oxenbould, Lolanthe, Brooke Satchwell, Julia Morris, Luke Carroll, Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Hannah Gadsby, Erika Heynatz, Sophie Monk, Christian Wilkins and Rob Mills.

However, until those new adaptations come onto our screens, we still have plenty more to satisfy our Austen needs. Read on for our personal favourites.

He’d go on to star in another Pride and Prejudice adaptation only six years later …
