She isn’t the only influential American woman heading Down Under in 2026. Oprah Winfrey is also going on an Australian speaking tour for the first time in ten years.

“One of the things I have always enjoyed is sitting down for real, honest, enlightening conversations, and this experience is all about that,” Oprah Winfrey said when she first announced her Australian speaking tour.

“The energy, warmth, and spirit I feel in Australia and New Zealand have stayed with me, and returning will be an opportunity to reconnect, reflect, and be reinspired—together. I look forward to sharing stories, ideas, and meaningful connections about what’s possible in our lives moving forward.”

In 2022, after publishing her second book, The Light We Carry, Michelle launched a book tour and later a podcast under the same name. We spoke exclusively with Michelle about that book. She spoke candidly about the power of friendship and supporting one another. Topics she will likely cover on her speaking tour.

“I’ve always invested deeply in my friendships, but these days, I appreciate my friends even more: the knowing looks that only they can give, the hugs delivered at just the right time, the simple reassurances that tell us we matter, that our light is recognised, and our voice is heard.”

“Even when the world feels dark and uncertain, we always have the ability to kindle our own light and share it with others.”

During her time as First Lady from 2009 to 2017, Michelle Obama became a global figure of compassion, advocacy and leadership. She championed initiatives supporting women and girls, promoted healthy families and education.

The Australian events will explore her life story and career — from her early work as a lawyer and public servant, to her years in Washington, and her continued role as a best-selling author and international advocate. Audiences can expect a wide-ranging discussion touching on motherhood, marriage, public service and her mission to help the next generation find their voice.

Her visit coincides with the release of her new book, The Look, which offers a behind-the-scenes glimpse at the stories behind her most memorable outfits and examines how personal presentation can shape confidence and identity.

“You don’t have to do something big or splashy to make a difference,” Michelle said when we interviewed her. “I want folks to feel a little less alone.”
