Oprah Winfrey lands in Sydney to start her Australian tour

It has been more than 10 years since she's headed Down Under.

It has been over a decade since Oprah Winfrey landed in Australia, but the media giant has returned for a speaking tour around the country.

“One of the things I have always enjoyed is sitting down for real, honest, enlightening conversations, and this experience is all about that,” Oprah Winfrey said.

What are the dates and location of Oprah Winfrey’s 2025 tour?

Travelling to both Australia and New Zealand in December 2025, the US talk show host will speak at five “special and intimate” events. 

The Oprah In Conversation events will begin at Sydney’s ICC Theatre on December 4. Then, she heads to the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on December 6. 

The next stops on her list include the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on December 8. Her final Australian stop will be the Plenary MCEC in Melbourne on December 11.

Oprah will then travel to Auckland for her event at the Spark Arena on December 14.

Where did Oprah go in Australia?

Oprah arrived in early December, and one of her first stops was to complete the Coogee to Bondi Walk. She also gave a shout-out to local favourite Bills for hotcakes, which were recommended to her by Hugh Jackman.

Oprah also went to an unspecified hat shop to purchase an Akubra. The talk show host also went to Gertrude and Alice bookstore and bought a copy of Arundhati Roy’s Mother Mary Comes to Me.

She and her team had dinner at Fred’s. While there, she said that it was the “best bread of her life”, and she should know. She’s a self-proclaimed “bread connoisseur”.

On her second day in Sydney, she opted to hike from Wattamolla to Eagle Rock, at the Royal National Park, walking sticks in tow.

She wrote in a post, “I remember when these hikes used to scare me; now I can’t wait to conquer them.”

The 71-year-old has been stealing the hearts of viewers around the globe for 25 years as the host and producer of the award-winning talk show, The Oprah Winfrey Show

Since its premiere in 1986, Oprah has spoken to President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, a tell-all with Meghan Markle, interviewed Michael Jackson, and much more.

Yes, Oprah Winfrey graced the cover of the October 2015 issue of The Australian Women’s Weekly on her world exclusive, “The son I never held” by Australian journalist Caroline Overington, ahead of her last tour Down Under.

In that touching interview, Oprah shared her heartbreaking experience of giving birth to and losing a baby boy when she was only 14 years old. And despite her difficult childhood, she built an incredible career for herself, from the ground up.

“Had I been born in a family where I felt nurtured, supported or loved, I would not be where I am today.”
