Following a successful run on Dancing with the Stars and being named the host of its spin-off show, Robert Irwin will be coming back Down Under to host the Logies!

Taking the mantle from Sam Pang, who has hosted Australia’s night of nights, the TV WEEK Logie Awards, for successive years, Robert says it is “one of the most exciting things I’ve been asked to do.”

I’m already picturing him twirling on stage in his khakis, and perhaps a koala or two will make an appearance, either on the red carpet or the stage.

“There’s simply no one better,” said Angus Ross, Seven’s Managing Director of Television and Streaming. Hopefully, not a dig at Sam Pang, who hosted the award show three times. Sam consistently delivered excellent opening monologues filled with dry sides and references to the previous year of television. Swapping a comedian for a host could be risky laughs-wise, but Robert is an incredibly popular host, so we shall wait and see!

“Throughout my life, my goal has been to spread an important message not only through our work at Australia Zoo, but also on the screen,” Robert said in a statement. “I grew up watching the Logies with my family, so this is certainly an honour. Australian television has given so much to so many people. To be part of the biggest night in Aussie TV is something I don’t take lightly. I cannot wait!”

The news comes mere weeks after I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! Australia was cancelled. There was a lot of speculation about where he might land in Australia, and now it appears Channel 7 have snapped the highly in-demand star (on the world stage) for the award show.

In 2026, Australia is also marking 70 years of television. In celebration, TV WEEK is asking Australia to vote for its favourite shows in a poll. Voting is live until 5pm, Sunday, 21 June 2026. The winners will be announced on TV’s “night of nights”, the Logie Awards. Vote here.
