Sophie Delezio, who captured the hearts of Australians after surviving two tragic accidents as a child, announced the birth of her baby in September 2024. Over a year later, the mum shared some insight into the birth.
The joyful news that her bub was shared with her followers via Instagram, where Sophie posted a heartfelt message celebrating the arrival of her newborn.
Sophie shared a photo of her newborn’s tiny hand alongside the caption, “Welcome to the world, Frankie 🩵 Our hearts are so full.”
The announcement was met with an outpouring of love from fans, well-wishers, and public figures alike, congratulating Sophie on this new chapter of her life. Sophie has been an inspiration for many, overcoming adversity with grace and strength, and has now entered a new role as a mother.
Sadly, her birthing experience wasn’t the most calming experience.
“PTSD, to me, comes out in mysterious ways,” she told The Canberra Times. “For me, it was facing an operating theatre.”
Following two traumatic events, Sophie spent a lot of time in an operating room.
“So with a rush of adrenaline and some Taylor Swift songs playing in the background, my son was born in my most hated space in the world,” Sophie continued, adding she managed to get through the trauma with her support of her husband.
Prior to the baby’s birth, Sophie was frequently sharing glimpses of her pregnancy journey, including her baby shower. Taking to Instagram on July 22, the expectant mother shared several sweet photos and revealed the little one’s gender.
“It’s a… BOY!!,” Sophie wrote.
“We can’t wait to welcome you to the world little man! Your mum and dad are so excited to meet you.”
Sophie has kept her followers up to date throughout her pregnancy journey.
When she reached 22 weeks in early June, she posted a sweet bump video along with a wonderfully candid caption.
“My gosh, what a journey it has been until now. This little bundle is moving around so much and definitely keeping their mama awake at night,” the 23-year-old wrote.
“To feel the movement inside is a feeling of pure love and joy. It is a feeling that I will forever treasure.
“This recent part of the journey has taught me how to slow down and nurture my body more than ever before.
“I am loving all that you have already changed in me, my little one. Less than half way until we meet.”
Previously, Sophie also shared an update when she was 17 weeks, writing “I love everything that pregnancy has done for me and to me.”
Sophie first revealed she was expecting on April 3.
“The greatest gift of all coming in September!,” Sophie wrote on Instagram.
And her many friends and followers quickly shared their happiness and well wishes for her and Joseph via the comment section.
“Just the most beautiful news. Congrats guys,” one commenter said.
While digital creator Bree Lenehan commented: “So beautiful!! Congratulations Sophie.”
The high school sweethearts got engaged in April 2023, and at the time, Joseph shared with The Weekly what he loves most about Sophie.
“Strong, confident and generous, those three words best describe Sophie. That’s what I see when I’m with her,” he noted.
