Channel Ten has confirmed The Project is ending after almost 16 years on air.
In a lengthy statement, the network said they would be “introducing a revised early evening program schedule” in late June 2025.
“As a result of the changes, The Project will air for the last time on Friday, June 27, ending an incredible run of almost 16 years and more than 4,500 episodes,” the statement read.

Rumours that The Project was coming to an end first started circulating last week.
The current hosts – Sarah Harris, Waleed Aly, Georgie Tunny, Hamish Macdonald, Sam Taunton, Susie Youssef and Rove McManus – are yet to acknowledge the news.
As for what will replace The Project, Channel Ten has said they are planning to expand their news coverage “with the launch of a new national one-hour 6pm news, current affairs and insights program six days a week to complement 10’s one-hour 5pm local news bulletins.”

Aside from The Project getting axed, another change will be Deal or No Deal moving from 6pm to 7pm.
The Project first premiered on July 20, 2009 and has featured beloved Australian television personalities Carrie Bickmore, Charlie Pickering, Dave Hughes, Peter Helliar, Lisa Wilkinson, and Tommy Little as hosts.
During its run, The Project won 11 Logie Awards and a Walkley award.
