In 2024, the internationally beloved Broadway musical, Wicked, was transformed for the screen, and it returns in 2025 with Wicked: For Good.
The fantasy films star pop sensation Ariana Grande and accomplished singer Cynthia Erivo as the Wicked duo, Glinda and Elphaba, respectively. The pink and green that symbolise their characters quickly spread everywhere.

Aside from fans’ love, Wicked also received industry applause. It broke multiple box office records and won two of its 10 Oscar nominations.
Below is everything you need to know about Wicked: For Good.
Why is Wicked split into two parts?
The filmmakers behind Wicked felt the narrative could be explored properly if split into two parks. Meaning each character and storyline received the attention it deserved.
Thankfully, Wicked was filmed all in one go and therefore the second part hasn’t come out many years later as many series do.
Does Wicked: For Good have a post credit scene?
Unfortunately, there is no post-credit scene in Wicked: For Good.

Who is the cast of Wicked: For Good?
As previously mentioned, Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo take on the lead characters Glinda and Elphaba.
Joining them in Wicked: For Good is Bridgerton’s Jonathan Bailey (Prince Fiyero), Marissa Bode (Nessarose Tropp), Jeff Goldblum (The Wizard), Ethan Slater (Boq), and Michelle Yeoh (Madame Morrible).
Is Dorothy in Wicked Part 2?
If you’re not worried about potential spoilers, read on.
In the stage version of Wicked, Dorothy appears in Act 2 – which Wicked Part 2 is based on.
However, you just see her silhouette and she’s more of a plot device than a character.
But judging by how the first Wicked film fleshed out the stage version, it’s likely the Dorothy character will be utilised more in Wicked Part 2.
Director Jon M. Chu has hinted as much; he told Variety in November 2024:
“In the [Broadway] show, Dorothy is around. They have to intersect, and you can only tease it so much. I won’t say whether she’s a character, necessarily, in movie two… There is interaction and some crossover.”

What is the run time of Wicked: For Good?
Get comfortable! Because Wicked part two runs for 2 hours and 17 minutes. It is slightly shorter than the first part which ran for 2 hours and 40 minutes.
When does the Wicked: For Good soundtrack release?
The soundtrack for Wicked: For Good will be released to Spotify on November 21, 2025, in Australia.
When does Wicked: For Good release in Australia?
Wicked: For Good is available to watch in cinemas across Australia from November 20, 2025.
The film will be available to rent or buy from Amazon Prime, Apple TV and other on-demand platforms from 6 January 2026.

What happens in Wicked Part 2?
Again, if you’re not concerned about spoilers, read on.
Wicked: For Good is based on Act 2 of the Broadway show Wicked.
In Act 2, Elphaba, now a fugitive after standing up to the corrupt Wizard of Oz, seeks refuge with her sister Nessarose, who is now the Governor of Munchkinland.

Sadly, Nessarose has become bitter and self-absorbed, and enslaved the Munchkins after realising Boq loves Glinda, not her.
Elphaba tries to help with magic, but after a series of spells accidentally go wrong, Nessarose becomes hostile towards her.
Meanwhile, Glinda basks in public adoration after aligning with the Wizard’s regime, but struggles privately with Elphaba’s growing infamy.
And furthermore, Fiyero, now Captain of the Guard, grows increasingly disillusioned with the Wizard and his oppressive rule.
Everything really kicks off when Madame Morrible tries to capture Elphaba by creating a cyclone that instead inadvertently drops Dorothy’s house on Nessarose…
As aforementioned, the first Wicked film adaptation fleshed out the story and added (and removed) some elements of Act 1, so we’re not sure what will change or be expanded upon in Wicked: For Good until it’s released.
