If you are ever fortunate enough to be invited to a Buckingham Palace garden party, held to celebrate individuals’ remarkable acts of public service, there is a certain dress code to adhere to.

Whilst the men wear morning dress or lounge suits, sometimes with a bowler hat in tow, expect to see the women in bright dresses with hats or fascinators.

Of course, no one is better dressed than the royals in attendance, especially whenever Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge steps out.

Ever since her first garden party in 2012, the royal style icon has known how to stand out in the crowd whilst sticking to the formal dress code.

There’s no chance we’ll ever see the Duchess of Cambridge in a striking pant suit on the Buckingham Palace lawn, but she still has a way of commanding everyone’s attention with her fashion.

Whether she’s in bright hues, pastel colours or sticking to classic neutrals, Catherine knows how to perfectly balance the royal traditions with her fashionable modern day flair.

We adore this bespoke blue Christopher Kane coat dress she donned in 2017. The Duchess of Cambridge first wore the design in 2012 for the Opening Ceremony of the London Olympic Games and then again in June 2014 for Order of the Garter ceremonies.

She even shared a sweet moment with her husband Prince William. Very dapper in the top hat, may we add!
