Fans of Desperate Housewives rejoice; there may a reboot in the works!
Here’s everything we know so far…
Is there a spinoff of Desperate Housewives?
Okay, the potential new series is more of a Desperate Housewives spinoff than a reboot but it’s better than nothing!
In May 2025, Disney’s Onyx Collective announced it was trying to get the spinoff – titled Wisteria Lane, with Natalie Chaidez as the writer/an executive producer, and Kerry Washington as an executive producer – off the ground.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Wisteria Lane will focus on a group of friends living on a seemingly picture-perfect cul de sac whose facade hides a boatload of secrets.”
Sound familiar?
Currently, Marc Cherry – who created Desperate Housewives – is not involved.

Which is especially odd as just last year, in November 2024, Marc told People that he has an idea for a reboot/spinoff.
“I would probably want to do the [reboot] maybe in an earlier decade,” Marc said.
“Because the character I miss writing the most is actually Wisteria Lane. That was the most fun playground anyone in the history of television has ever had because we owned the whole street,” he continued.
“I know that street like the back of my hand. When someone shoots a commercial on that street, I know it instantly, because I know all those houses, I know the geography. It was such a fun place to write for. And there’s times when I go, ‘You know what? I wonder if I could write Wisteria Lane in, like, 1966.’”
Would Desperate Housewives ever come back?
Sadly, if you’re more interested in a reboot that would see Eva Longoria, Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross, and Nicollette Sheridan return as their Desperate Housewives characters, it likely won’t happen anytime soon.
Eva — who played Gaby Solis for all eight seasons — appeared at Content London on December 4, 2024, on behalf of her production company Hyphenate Media Group.
While there, Eva said that Hyphenate always produces “with purpose” and never greenlights a project until the questions, “What [is the project] saying? and “Why now?” have been satisfactorily answered.

And this led to her discussing a Desperate Housewives reboot.
“There’s not a ‘why now’ for that show. I mean, some people do reboots because it’s like, ‘Reboot!’ It’s a good title,” Eva said.
“But I’ve talked to Marc Cherry a thousand times and it’s like, we fully mined those characters because we were on for a decade and this was 24 episodes a year … That’s a lot of story that you burn through.”
It’s not all bad news though for fans desperate [pun intended] for a reboot.
Eva went on to say that she’d happily return to Desperate Housewives if it ever was rebooted.
“I’d be the first one to sign up! I miss Gaby.”
