Upon discovering that Jarrad would be searching for love on Farmer Wants A Wife Australia (FWAW) this year, he sat down with his two boys.
What Farmer Jarrad’s oldest child said shocked him to his core.
“My oldest boy is 12 and said, ‘We just want you to be happy’,” Farmer Jarrad recalled to The Weekly. “He’s so mature, it was really sweet. I think he’s as mature as an 18-year old with some of the stuff he says.
“Everyone says their kids are amazing, but I’m very lucky with those two.”
Farmer Jarrad’s youngest boy is nine years old. The Weekly spoke to the FWAW newcomer just after school drop, and just a few days after the 2026 premiere. With his boys at such an influential age, Farmer Jarrad confessed they have impacted the type of partner he is searching for.
“My boys are a huge priority in my life, and I want my partner to make them a huge priority as well. My boys are beautiful kids, and they’re growing up fast. I need someone that’s going to understand the responsibility of being a dad.”
Initially, Jarrad was hesitant to join FWAW. But after some contemplation, the farmer knew the reality show was his best chance at finding that forever someone. As viewers know, it’s one of the few reality dating shows that has a positive track record with creating relationships.
Five ladies have joined the 41-year-old on his family’s almond farm, located in South Australia’s Taylorville, hoping to steal his heart. Having experienced heartbreak before, he is ready to put his heart on the line – but that doesn’t mean Jarrad isn’t wary.
“My intentions were to keep an open mind and not jump in too quickly because the stakes were high being the older farmer and having kids. I really wanted to make sure that I got it right,” he confessed. “I just wanted to give it 100 per cent, [and] I really wanted to get to know all the girls the best that I could.”
Given the unknown territory of dating multiple ladies, in front of each other and living in the same house, Jarrad found himself leaning on his fellow cast mates Alex, Dylan, Jason, and Zac.
“It’s interesting the relationships the farmers have formed together [and its] accelerated because we’re going through this unique experience together,” he shared, adding they’d catch up during the frequent Hunter Valley filming days. “It was good to have that support.”
