Dating is no easy task when you live two hours away from the closest city, and it’s why Jason is joining Farmer Wants A Wife Australia (FWAW) in 2026.
“I have tried the [dating] apps before. I obviously haven’t found anyone,” he confessed to The Weekly. “If you do match with someone, as soon as they realise you’re two hours away, they don’t talk to you.”
The 37-year-old is a dairy farmer from Coolabunia in Queensland. Dubbed the “gentle giant” by his friends, Jason is putting all his hopes in the show that has created so many love stories before him.
Interestingly enough, Farmer Jason did try to join FWAW a few years ago but unfortunately missed out. The second time was a charm though!
However, Jason’s chance at love received mixed reactions from his family.
“The old man was just worried about who was going to look after the cows,” he laughed. “My 12-year-old boy was excited, he wants to be on TV as well. Then my daughter, she’s six so she doesn’t quite understand it.”
Farming is in Jason’s blood, having grown up on the family land. There was a short time however, when he wasn’t on the farm. During some financial struggles, he worked in town. But when his day job concluded, he headed home to work on the farm.
But 14 years ago, Jason purchased the neighbouring land. Now, after 12 years full time on the farm, the family business is growing.
With his heart so deeply rooted in the country, he needs a special lady to love the land and job just as much as him. While he doesn’t expect his future partner to move to the farm immediately, he would like to find someone open to moving.
Before this, Farmer Jason had to become accustomed to confessing his feelings on television.
“I wasn’t expecting to talk about my feelings multiple times a day,” he joked. “That was a bit full on.”
“It’s hard enough talking to one girl, then you’ve got five coming to the farm. Then they’re all chit chatting to each other. It was very weird, and strange. I was worried that if I started talking to one lady, what would the others think?”
Farmer Jason hopes to meet someone bubbly, and kind-hearted with a good sense of humour. After having his heart broken, he is more than ready to give his “big heart” to the right person.
