It has been 28 years since the Owen sisters tackled a generational love curse and battled the spirit of a questionable man, but Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock’s friendship has only grown off-screen.
They first met during pre-production rehearsals for the 1998 cult classic, Practical Magic starring as Sally (Sandra) and Gillian (Nicole) Owens.

Both Hollywood icons in their own right, their lives have taken very different paths. Whether that be accepting career-making roles, welcoming children, or overcoming hardships.
But a friendship bonded over midnight margaritas can survive anything!
“Nic and I are very different. But our differences create the most fabulous dynamic,” Sandra confessed to British Vogue. “Whether we are fighting or loving on each other, we need each other. To watch how that shows itself on screen even surprises me. You can’t explain ‘chemistry’, it just is,” she says. “And we have it.”
The magical duo have reunited in the idyllic coastal town in Massachusetts for Practical Magic 2, releasing on September 10 in Australia. Although the highly anticipated sequel has ventured all the way to England – we’re hoping the enviable witchy home will still play a role.
“Nicole and I hadn’t seen each other for decades with the exception of a run-in on a red carpet,” Sandra continued. “But somehow we seamlessly stepped right back into these two sisters’ shoes like no time had passed at all.”
From warm hugs to birthday wishes, it’s almost as if they haven’t spent any time apart. Nicole is even featured all over Sandra’s Instagram page!
In June 2026, Sandra wished her “witchy sister” a happy 59th birthday with a montage of their moments together on and off-screen. “Call it magic when I’m next to you 🪄🩷,” she wrote.
After so long apart, they reunited in mid-2025 to commence filming so they could spend the summer holidays with their families. Nicole is the proud mother of four children, while Sandra has two kids.
So whenever possible, the two families gathered for some fun all over the UK.
“Going to Hyde Park and concerts, Glastonbury and Salisbury – so much summer fun – Evita, seeing theatre, walking Hampstead Heath, swimming there,” she told Vogue in October 2025.
Residing so close together in London at the time, they truly became sisters. “I can tease her, and she teases me,” Nicole told People. “I adore her and she is so funny and so lovable. And we’re just having the best time together.”
