It was one big happy family on The Block in the beginning of the 2025 season, with the contestants becoming friends as they shared resources and dinner plans.
But, the reminder that The Block is a brutal competition where a life-changing cash prize was at risk, was a big slap to some contestants.

Robby and Mat have a target on their back with the ‘mystery’ hole in their yard, soon to become an underground wine cellar. After weeks of successfully hiding the gigantic hole, the other contestants have finally realised the boys are “playing the game.”
It was a rough realisation for lovebirds Sonny and Alicia who discovered competitors over at House 2, Han and Can copied their heated seat plans for the Hepburn Spa Challenge.
While Han and Can have denied copying Sonny’s floor plans, there is undeniable tension between the houses.
Additionally, Han and Can have occasionally separated themselves from the wider group. However, this wasn’t due to any malice but they were simply exhausted given they didn’t have the same number of builders as the other teams.

But reality TV viewers have come to understand that what you see on-screen isn’t necessarily the full picture. So, are The Block contestants friends in the real world?
Well, Han and Can assure the Blockheads are friendly off-screen.
“Of course, there were some tense moments, big personalities, high stakes, and zero sleep will do that, but behind the scenes, there was so much laughter, support, and fun that didn’t always make it to air,” they told Yahoo Lifestyle.
The publication further revealed that the teammates celebrated The Block’s conclusion by staying at an Airbnb and “matching tattoos.”
The delicate tattoo was a small heart, surrounded by an outline of a house.
As of writing, Han and Can are the only team to comment on the friendship of those competing in the 2025 season of The Block. But watch this space for more details.
