While promoting her latest film, The Room Next Door, Tilda told Elle, “I’ve always intended that each film would be my final one.”

“It was not wanting to jinx anything because I have had such fun from start to finish. I always thought, ‘Well, that’s a good one to go out on. Let’s just quit while we’re ahead.’ And I feel it today,” she continued.

“I feel The Room Next Door is the last film I make. Let’s see if anything else happens.”

Despite saying that The Room Next Door — which also stars Julianne Moore — will mark her retirement, Tilda has already filmed another movie that’s yet to be released.

Netflix’s The Ballad of a Small Player stars Tilda and Colin Farrell and won’t be released until next year.

But judging by Tilda’s comments, it looks like The Ballad of a Small Player will be her last ever film.

Of course, the Oscar winner may change her mind; she did say, “Let’s see if anything else happens,” after all.
