5 of the steamiest on-screen movie moments

Put the sparkling on ice...

There’s nothing quite like watching some steamy on-screen movie moments.

From new releases to iconic favourites, here’s our pick of the steamiest silver screen pairings.

1. Channing Tatum & Salma Hayek Pinault: Magic Mike’s Last Dance

Magic Mike is back, and the third instalment of the series may just be the steamiest yet.

Channing Tatum and Salma Hayek Pinault pair up on screen in Magic Mike’s Last Dance.

Channing Tatum meets his match in Salma Hayek Pinault, who plays a wealthy socialite who lures Mike to London for one last hurrah and what promises to be the show of a lifetime.

The film’s first trailer teases the duo’s electric on-screen chemistry with a glimpse of an intimate, private lap dance, with Hayek Pinault sharing her character is a “strong woman” who “would sit around and watch, like, 12 men, semi-naked dancing… and I got to boss them around”.

With Tatum himself describing the film as the “Superbowl of stripping”, Magic Mike’s Last Dance is the perfect movie to see with the gal, the guys or the gal pals.

2. Patrick Swayze & Jennifer Grey: Dirty Dancing

While there are plenty of steamy moments in the romantic dance drama, one of our favourites was originally not in the script.

The scene where Baby (Jennifer Grey) and Johnny (Patrick Swayze) crawl and dance around to “Love Is Strange” was originally intended to be a warm-up exercise for the two actors before filming officially began.

But upon watching the real-life chemistry between the two, director Emile Ardolino loved it so much it made the final cut, and for that, we are eternally grateful.

3. Julia Roberts & Richard Gere: Pretty Woman

Another unscripted moment that made it into the final film (and became a fan favourite), the necklace scene in Pretty Woman is heralded as one of the most romantic in movie history.

Providing a raw and authentic feel to the character’s relationship, Vivian (Julia Roberts) is presented with a diamond necklace by Edward (Richard Gere), who jokingly snaps the box shut on her hand when she tries to touch it.

While the movie is centred on the pair’s developing romantic relationship, the scene makes our list of steamy moments purely for the genuinely adorable (and very real) reaction from both the actors.

4. Kate Winslet & Leonardo DiCaprio: Titanic

The literal definition of the word “steamy”, the car scene in Titanic (and the build-up of tension leading up to this moment) is part of the reason the film is one of the most successful of all time.

While there are plenty of other romantic moments during the film (“Draw me like one of your French girls,” anyone?), this one remains a fan favourite and has gone down as one of the most memorable on-screen sex scenes of all time.

5. Patrick Swayze & Demi Moore: Ghost

No list of steamy movie moments is complete without one of the most famous in cinematic history: the pottery scene from 1990’s Ghost.
