Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden has proven that even royals love an affordable gown.
On January 30, 2024, the Princess attended a state dinner at the Royal Palace in Stockholm, where French President Emmanuel Macron was the guest of honour.
And for the dinner, Victoria opted to wear a dress from reasonably-priced brand H&M.
The grey silk gown has been in Victoria’s closet for a while though, as she previously wore it in 2016 for the Nobel Prize ceremony.
But these two occasions aren’t the only times the royal has chosen to dress in H&M clothing.
In January 2023, for the Swedish royal family’s annual ‘Sverigemiddagen’ (Swedish dinner) event, Victoria wore a black embroidered dress from H&M’s 2019 Giambattista Valli collection.
In June 2022, she wore a lovely green gown from H&M’s Conscious Exclusive collection to the Royal Gala Dinner of the Swedish Chamber of Commerce for the Netherlands.
Princess Victoria also wore a dark blue H&M dress on two separate occasions; first in 2020 to mark her 10th wedding anniversary with husband Prince Daniel, and then again in 2022 to attend a gala held by The Royal Swedish Academy of Letters, Sciences and Antiquities.
Plus, in June 2015, Victoria wore a lovely white gown from H&M’s Conscious Exclusive collection to her brother Prince Carl Philip Edmund Bertil’s royal wedding to Princess Sofia, Duchess of Värmland.
For her most recent occasion, the state dinner, Victoria accessorised her H&M frock with glittering statement earrings, a blue sash, a royal insignia and the Napoleonic Cut-Steel Tiara, which dates back to the 1800s.
The tiara, according to The Court Jeweller, features steel that has been strategically cut, polished, and set in gold so it sparkles despite not having a single gemstone on it.
We love that Victoria paired an affordable dress with a priceless heirloom!
