Queen Camilla to take a break from royal duties

She’s been representing the family while King Charles, Prince William and Princess Catherine have been off due to health reasons…

When King Charles was diagnosed with cancer last month, many thought Prince William – as heir apparent – would take over the majority of his commitments while he recovered.

However, William couldn’t help too much as he had already stepped back from many of his own royal engagements to take care of Princess Catherine – the Princess of Wales underwent abdominal surgery in January.

And so, Queen Camilla took up the responsibility of filling in for her husband.

Since the palace announced Charles was undergoing treatment for cancer, Camilla has attended 13 royal engagements – many of which she was supposed to attend with Charles but instead attended solo.

But now, the Queen will take a break.

As first reported by the Sunday Times, Camilla’s calendar has been completely cleared for the first week of March.

It’s believed that Princess Anne and Prince Edward will now take on publicly representing the royal family.

In the coming days, Anne and Edward will attend events set to be held at the Rising Brook Community Church, Savoy Chapel, the Right Stuff Amateur Boxing Club and National Equine Forum, instead of Camilla.

The break is extremely short though and Camilla will return to work on March 11.

Her Majesty will then attend the annual Commonwealth Day service held at Westminster Abbey.

The service is typically attended by the full royal family – bar Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex in recent years – but this year it’s unlikely that Charles or Catherine will attend considering they’re both still recovering from their respective health conditions.
