Married At First Sight Australia 2026 has kicked off with a bang as the first couple, Alissa and David have an argument before the vows even started.
Standing at the altar, Alissa was panicking: eyes watery, deep breaths and avoiding eye contact with her groom. “I’m really, really sorry. I don’t think I can marry you.”
David, so patiently – and probably in shock – said, “I fully understand.” When suddenly, those watery eyes dried…
“Not until you get on one knee and propose to me,” Alissa explained.
After a few minutes of bickering, bridesmaids voicing their opinions, and David in just complete shock that his new wife was completely serious, he dropped to one knee.

It was undoubtedly an interesting start to their MAFS experiment, but they could be exactly what the other needs!
Alissa, 33, is a nurse and social media manager from South Australia. Ready to be a mum, Alissa’s vows divulged into her dream life featuring the whole package: the house, kids, holidays and more.
Then showing a more vulnerable side, the 33-year-old revealed her painful past relationship. Alissa never expected to be re-entering the dating world, but her six-year relationship ended because there was “no commitment.”
“I honestly thought we were going to get married,” she tearfully explained to the producers.
Bringing back the laughs, David’s vows began with, “Alissa, you must have got my email. I’m your Nigerian prince! But I’m not here to take your money, just your heart.”

David, 31, is an E Commerce Product Manager from Queensland. Having been inspired by his parents’ 30-year relationship, David is ready to find ‘the one.’ But struggles to find someone who is ready for a long-term commitment.
With both his parents being pastors, David hoped to find someone who accepts his faith or is religious themselves. Although Alissa did use “the Lord’s name in vain” during the wedding ceremony, which rubbed some people the wrong way, she also grew up Christian.
While most of the ceremony was all giggles, will David and Alissa’s connection survive Married At First Sight Australia 2026? Only time will tell.
