While we were over the moon to hear Barry ‘Bear’ Myrden say “I love you” to Sunny on The Golden Bachelor Australia 2025, our hearts broke when Janette was rejected.
The three, along with Bear’s children and host Samantha Armytage, ventured to Cape Town in South Africa for the finale.
Dressed in a beautiful gown, Janette stood hand-in-hand with Bear surrounded by the picturesque mountain-side.
“I was so nervous about doing this,” Bear began. “Because you make me feel like I haven’t felt in a long time. You’re just a real honest and genuine person with a beautiful heart. I feel like I could tell you anything, and it was us against the world and I love that.
“Janette, you deserve a love worth fighting for. But I’m so sorry, it’s not with me. I know this hurts. You’re someone I really care for and I rally respect. I know there’s somebody out there for you,” he concluded.
To which Janette responded: “I’m fine. I read your eyes the minute I walked up here.”
When Bear responded by declaring, “I really do care for you,” Janette simply explained: “Don’t disrespect Sunny by saying anything like that. I hope you’re very happy both of you.”
Following her heartbreaking outcome, Janette confessed she wanted to completely “rid” herself of the day.
“I just wanted to run from that because I held back my tears, I put my wall up, and I thought, just be strong. And I just wanted to get off that mountain, rip my clothes off, rip my shoes off… I wanted to go hide somewhere and have my little cry.”
Janette then spoke to 9Entertainment revealing she was completely “blindsided.”
“I was sure it was me and then when it wasn’t I thought, ‘How did I ever think that?'” she said. “I felt like a bit of a fool and this has shown me to be very protective of my heart.”
Since parting ways, Janette confirmed she has not spoken with the Bachelor since. She has however contact Sunny immediately after.
“I messaged Sunny because I was genuinely happy for her. I realised in the end she was in love with him, and I wished her well, and I wished them a happy life together and whatever comes from it,” she told the publication.
While the Pilates studio owner didn’t find love, but she certainly has found more career opportunities. Recently, Janette signed with Roxy Jacenko’s PR agency, Ministry of Talent.
“When Roxy reached out, I just thought, well, opportunities come at the right time for you, so I said yes, and I’m just loving everything about what I’m doing,” she told Yahoo Lifestyle.
“I loved being on the show, I love the excitement of being around the cameras, and I’m just open to what comes along.”
Some have questioned whether Janette could become the next Golden Bachelorette!
