When professional trainer Tiffiny Hall stepped onto the platform on Channel Seven’s Gladiators, Ed Kavalee was so enamoured. But it was his best friend that declared, “If you meet her, you’ll marry her.”
It was a bold statement. Luckily, working in radio gave Ed an opportunity to organise a meet-cute — and he did, many times.
“After the second time I interviewed Tiff, I went out to say goodbye, and she said, ‘So are you going to ask me out or what?’ I said, ‘Sure’,” he confessed while speaking with host Tiffany Dunk on the new episode of The Australian Women’s Weekly Love Stories.

From their first date, they became inseparable.
“It was just so fun and genuine. We just had this instant connection,” Tiff recalled. “I was very single and had some disaster experiences.
“One guy who I had a few dates with dared me to go to a fitness test in Melbourne for Gladiators. I didn’t know it was an audition for a TV show. I got through the fitness test, and he didn’t, and he dumped me over that.”
However, it wasn’t all smooth sailing for the lovebirds because six months into the relationship, Ed called it quits.
“He was scared of commitment,” Tiff said. Pointing to Tiff’s role models, Ed noted the “happily ever after” Tiff’s parents and grandparents experienced “wasn’t my experience as such.”
“You think you’re doing the right thing, but you’re actually holding onto a pattern that is worth breaking,” he added.

When did Tiffiny Hall and Ed Kavalee get married?
On a beautiful day in October 2014, Tiff and Ed exchanged vows in an intimate wedding. Held in a Melbourne church, the pair shared Tiff’s parents’ wedding anniversary, who have been married for over four decades.
In the six months between the engagement and the wedding ceremony, Tiff was the complete opposite of a ‘Bridezilla’, purchasing the first dress she tried on.
“I was like, ‘Oh my God, I can’t spend this money on a dress. This is silly. I’m going to wear it once’,” she recalled. “I have shoes that are more expensive than my wedding dress now.”
How many children do Tiffiny Hall and Ed Kavalee share?
Tiff and Ed share two beautiful children: Arnold, in 2017, and Vada, in 2022.

While visiting the ‘City of Love’, as host Tiffany brilliantly put it, Tiff fell pregnant in Paris, France during their official honeymoon. At the time, neither really considered starting a family, so starting one on a whim seemed out of this world.
“We were in Paris, and we’re like, ‘Should we just try?’ I fell pregnant with Arnold [the first time]. That was magical and very easy — didn’t know what we were in for,” she said.
A few years down the track, the family of three became four when Vada joined in May 2022.
