I have been covering this show for the better part of a decade. This popular reality show, responsible for 11 marriages and close to 30 children, is a mainstay on Aussie television. One of its alumni, Farmer David and Emily McMahon, joined us on The Australian Women’s Weekly Love Stories podcast. They spoke about their time on the show. And they brought along their 8-week-old daughter, Willa! Watch the episode here.

If you missed episode nine of the 2026 Farmer Wants A Wife season, don’t worry! Allow me to recap it for you, but beware, serious spoilers lie ahead…

SPOILERS ahead!

Episode 10

Episode 10 of the 2026 Farmer Wants A Wife season kicked off with some actual farm work — something we haven’t seen too much of this year. Jason showed his ladies how to milk cows and it’s NOTHING like sitting on a stool in a cosy barn with one sweet cow named Betsy.

No, it looked like hard work and the cows literally pooed the whole time. It was gross to watch and put me off my cup of tea and biccies. Logan and Poppy weren’t much help; they constantly squealed but hey, I’m with them. I’d squeal too if I was exposed to that much cow poo. Kimberley thoroughly enjoyed it though, and got right in there to help Jason.

Over on Alex’s farm, there wasn’t any cow milking. He instead milked his parents for advice; I apologise for the terrible segue but that’s all I’ve got.

In the last episode, Alex asked Rachel on a solo date after realising he might be more compatible with her than Eddy (if you’ve missed the whole saga, Alex has obviously been in love with Eddy from day one but hasn’t left the show early with her yet because he has reservations about Eddy’s faith; she’s religious and he’s not).

However, when chatting to his mum and step-dad, Alex confessed he didn’t want to go on the solo date with Rachel. He then asked whether they thought a long-term relationship with Eddy was feasible considering her beliefs and his lack thereof. And Alex’s mum Susie shared some incredible wisdom: “Obviously every relationship has a give and take in it… If she’s the one for you, sometimes in a relationship you have to compromise. Are you prepared to compromise? Always keep an open mind in life.”

Meanwhile, all the other farmers went on their solo dates. Jason and Poppy went for a nice picnic date (and I realised at this point, there have been many a picnic date this season. I guess there’s not a lot of date options out in the country).

Jason opened up about wanting more children and Poppy reiterated she has no interest in having kids. However, she admitted she’s a proud aunty and would happily become a step-mum to Jason’s son. The two then went for a swim and shared a cheeky kiss.

But despite how well the date ended, Jason later told producers he still had some doubts about his relationship with Poppy. “It’s a major thing if I were to compromise and not have kids.”

Dylan took Ally for a — surprise, surprise — picnic date. Ally continued the conversation she and the sheep farmer had at the Country Fair in episode eight (before they were interrupted by Scarlette), and essentially, she said she wants to be married with kids before she turns 30.

Ally did make it clear though that she is happy for Dylan to “live his life” and fulfil his goals before settling down. He was ecstatic to hear that and, in turn, confessed he has very strong feelings for her.

However, Dylan later told producers that he is worried Ally’s trust issues from a past relationship could impact their future. Why didn’t he bring that up with her? Weird.

Zac took Mieke for a picnic date (yes, another picnic!) in his apple orchard. And during the date, he basically said the other women have made more effort than her. Ouch.

Mieke didn’t take the criticism lying down though: “Maya pulls you aside every opportunity, which is great for her. But makes it hard for me.” However, the conversation ended with Mieke vowing to be more forward in group settings.

The two then relaxed a little and Zac ended up telling Mieke, “I think you’re beautiful.” The two kissed, and Zac officially became the second farmer this season to kiss all of his ladies (after playboy almond farmer Jarrad).

“There’s definitely chemistry there,” he told producers. And the two came back to the farm holding hands — which rattled Grace and Maya.

Ultimately, after speaking to his parents, Alex pulled Rachel aside and cancelled their solo date. He admitted he had fallen for Eddy and didn’t want to waste Rachel’s time anymore.

“I don’t think I see a future with you,” he said, which reads rather blunt but I swear he delivered it kindly.

Rachel was so grown up about it and was actually pleased he was finally being honest. “You’ve redeemed yourself here today with your honesty… I really appreciate it,” she said.

And, a class act all the way, as she left, Rachel told Alex, “I’m happy for you and Ed.”

Then Alex started getting ready to ask Eddy to start a real relationship outside of Farmer Wants A Wife. During which I realised: part of me is so happy that Alex and Eddy are getting their fairytale ending but another part of me is worried because they’re the only couple I really care about so far this season. Hopefully the other farmers start forging legitimate connections that I can eagerly route for… I digress.

Eddy finally arrived and Alex confessed his feelings to her:

“The way that you make me feel Ed scares me; it’s terrifying to be honest. I haven’t felt this way about anyone before… Your wit, your beauty, your radiance. Spending time with you, being around you is so easy, so comfortable. And we have so much fun. I’ve fallen in love with you Ed.”

I literally cried while he gave this speech (and I’m not proud of this, but it was a full on sob, not a chic, single, glistening tear).

But then Eddy almost scared me to death by saying she’s “not there yet” and I thought for a hot minute she was going to break up with him and leave!

Thankfully, all she meant was that she’s falling in love, she just hasn’t quite fallen yet. But Eddy does indeed want to date Alex beyond Farmer Wants A Wife. Phew. The two kissed and walked off into the sunset, hand in hand.

I can’t believe how happy I am for Alex and Eddy, and I hope they’re still together! I’m confident they are; they feel like they’re the real deal and will join the likes of Will and Jess, Brad and Clare, and David and Emily. Mark my words!

As for the remaining farmers, Natalie Gruzlewski informed them they must introduce all of their remaining ladies to their respective families. And then the final solo dates of the 2026 season will be picked by the farmers’ families. High stakes indeed.

Dylan introduced Ally, Scarlette and Keeley to his grandma, grandpa and dad. Ultimately, intruder Keeley impressed Dylan’s family the most with her horse knowledge and willingness to follow him around on the rodeo circuit and they chose her for the solo date. Scarlette was not happy about the decision, telling producers, “It makes me question my connection with him.”

Jason introduced Logan, Poppy and Kimberley to his brother and sister. Kimberley tried to stir up trouble by asking Jason’s siblings whether not wanting children would be a deal breaker, obviously referring to Poppy.

Whereas Logan impressed Jason’s sister Ashley with her vulnerability; she teared up while confessing that she had strong feelings for Jason and could really see her and her kids one day becoming a “family unit” with Jason and his son. And so, Logan was picked for the final solo date.

Kimberley was “gutted” and held back tears while everyone said their goodbyes but she later shed a few at the dinner table.

Jarrad introduced Carly, Brodie, Yvonne and Christina to his mum and dad. We didn’t get to see Carly or Christina chat to Jarrad’s parents but we did see Brodie and Yvonne get some one-on-one time. Brodie teared up and shared that Jarrad makes her feel very comfortable.

Jarrad’s dad was pretty impressed and told producers, “It was great to see Brodie get a little teary. She’s wearing her heart on her sleeve, which I respect.”

As for Yvonne, she was a little sneaky with her approach to Jarrad’s parents. She knew that his mum liked painting and his dad liked bird watching, and she definitely had done her research – she spoke at length about those things with them.

And ultimately, her cunning plan got her the solo date.

As for Zac, he introduced Maya, Grace and Mieke to his mum, dad, twin sister and older brother. It was very obvious both Maya and Grace were trying their hardest to wow Zac’s family.

To me, it seemed like they kept trying to one up each other and poor Mieke couldn’t get a word in edgeways. And during some one-on-one time with Zac’s mum and twin, Grace practically begged for the solo date. The whole thing was honestly hard to watch.

When Zac’s family got together to make their decision, his dad really wanted to give the solo date to Grace whereas Zac’s twin Isobel wanted to give it to Maya. Ultimately, Isobel got her way and Maya was given the final solo date of the season.

Grace understandably went for a cry in her bedroom and on that sad note is where the episode ended.

And that was our spoilers-heavy recap of nine of Farmer Wants A Wife 2026! Stay tuned for more recaps and new episodes that air on Monday, Tuesday and Sunday nights on Channel 7 and 7now.
