I’m stepping in for Bec tonight to cover Episode 13 of Farmer Wants A Wife – and what a banger of an episode – warning: spoilers ahead.
Now, I don’t have the same entertainment pedigree as the wonderful Bec Milligan, and although I haven’t been watching every episode, I’ve been editing all her recaps, so if you are wondering if I too will have reservations about Jarrad and be instantly a supporter of Jason, ME TOO!
If you missed episode 13 of the 2026 Farmer Wants A Wife season, don’t worry! Allow me to recap it for you, but beware, serious spoilers lie ahead…

Episode 13
Episode 13 opens with a flashback to the success of FWAW, with host Natalie Gruzlewski sharing that the reality show has led to 11 weddings, 12 long-term relationships and 30 “gorgeous farmer babies”. And it looks like they’re adding another round of nuptials to the round-up…
Last season, Farmer Tom fell hard and fast for Georgie, confessing his love for her after 10 episodes. Just over a year after they met, Farmer Wants a Wife revisits them in the same spot where they had a memorable date – a picnic under the stars by a creek complete with campfire and smooches. This time, we’re there during the day, and Tom has something he wants to ask her…
“Georgie, every time I’m not with you, I miss you. Our time together is always amazing, so would you make me the happiest man in the world and marry me?”
Georgie giggles throughout the entire proposal – I guess she could tell something was coming when the cameras rocked up.
“Yes, of course I will,” she responds in glee.
“This farmer has found a wife,” Farmer Tom says, but asks that she plan the wedding.
“You can help,” she laughs back, and the two embrace, and it’s all very wholesome and cute. Discover more of their sweetest moments here.
Then we are brought back to this season, as we are getting close to the finishing line. We’re reminded about Farmer Alex and his “soulmate” Eddy. However, rumour has it that their love is no more…
Tonight, Farmer Zac and Farmer Jason are both deciding who to choose from their remaining ladies. It’s family and hometown visit time!
Anyone who has gone through the dreaded “meet the parents” moment knows how touchy that can be. My father immediately interrogated my partner of now 13 years (and counting) about his family the literal second he walked across the threshold. It was intense. Your family and best friends are the people who know you best; often, they can know what’s best for you. Not always, though!
First up is Zac, who’s heading down to Melbourne to meet Maya’s family. He tells production that it’s been an “absolute journey” with her that “started out slow” but with “great memories and tough conversations”. We see some of their memorable dates and moments from jetskiing to tearful conversations to Maya calling him a “good egg”.
We get introduced to Maya’s family (sister Isla, best friend Ruby and father Andrew) as she tells them that she can’t wait for them to meet him.
“I could be a little blinded by my feelings; I could have my rose-tinted glasses on,” Maya tells production. But she’s hoping this family visit with solidffy both her feelings and future with Zac. She seems hung up on the fact that it would be more convenient for Zac to choose Mieke, as she already lives in Adelaide Hills, so unlike Maya, she wouldn’t have to pack up and move.
It’s actually quite precious how much Zac is blushing as he walks into the kitchen holding hands with Maya. You almost forget that they are both in their early 20s when they talk about their future, but in that moment, it was like they were teenagers!
He tells the family during their meal that Maya and he had an instant connection from their first speed date.
Andrew points out that one of the strengths that he sees in their relationship is “eye contact”, which both Maya and Zac respond to by almost spitting water out of their mouths in laughter.
“I can see you’re quite keen on each other,” Andrew says to both of them, and he repeats that to the production team as well.
However, Isla is more cautious, speaking to production with her arms crossed about how Maya falls in love quickly. So she and Ruby take Zac outside for a proper chat.
Both of them agree that Maya and Zac have similar personalities. However, Zac admits that one of his reservations is potentially starting a long-distance relationship and says that he would “never pressure” her to move, but long-distance isn’t the best way to start a relationship. However, not that many start in a reality television series, so maybe love will find a way.
Isla attempts to clear his worries and tells him that Maya would be willing to move if she were picked. To which Zac responds with a little coy smile, clearly pleased, but not wanting to show just how much.
However, Zac also admits to both her sister and best friend that he didn’t have an initial spark with Maya – why would you do that to yourself, Zac?? Best friend Ruby is definitely not impressed by that admission, but part of me is wondering if Zac is just overthinking this whole thing. Isla doesn’t beat around the bush and asks point blank if he had a spark with Mieke, and he admits that he did – why, Zac??
“Yeah, that’s a tricky one. There is a little bit more of a spark [with Mieke], but I think the thing with myself and Mieke, we started off on rocky terms, like even though there was that pull and that little bit of a spark, we didn’t have that relationship anywhere close to myself and Maya.”
It sounds like he may be more attracted to Mieke, but has more of a genuine connection with Maya. But this is a newcomer’s observation.
We don’t have too long to wait and see how his honesty goes over with Maya.
“I think you need to talk [to him],” Ruby tells Maya. And Isla tells a visibly crushed Maya about Zac’s confession about having a bigger spark with Mieke. She tells Ruby that she feels “blindsided”.
“I came here for love,” Maya says to production. “If I’m finding out this late that he doesn’t feel the same way as me, I need to get to the bottom of it.”
At their final date at a cute rooftop bar in Melbourne, they hold hands as Maya tells him how she feels (“a kick to the guts”), and his legs are jostling all over the place. The poor boy is clearly super nervous. He does have the grace to look guilty.
“I’d never want you to feel like less than you are, because you are absolutely amazing,” Zac responds, adding that he feels horrible.
“I feel like we’ve built up something great,” he adds after saying that sparks are great but they fade, whereas they’ve grown from friends to something more.
“I still absolutely 100 per cent believe in us”, he ends.
It doesn’t seem like either of them is satisfied with this conversation; they do agree that they are still getting to know one another. But Maya confesses she’s falling for him and tells him that she’s going to fight for him. They end with a kiss.
Next, it’s Farmer Jason’s turn, and we’re in Logan’s hometown of Yamba, NSW. The main reservation Jason has about Logan is their age difference.
Logan hasn’t introduced her children to any man. However, she tells her mum that Jason would be a great role model to her kids and she would move “tomorrow” to the farm.
That being said, she does open up about some “weird things”, namely that Poppy doesn’t want kids, but that is what he wants. She shares that she’s worried that because she’s still in the running, there’s clearly something strong between them.
In a great move, Jason brings over wine, but specifically he says he’s brought her favourite – I love a man that listens. Inside, Logan’s sister, mum, dad, stepmom, and her nieces are all there to size up the farmer.
Both Logan and Jason speak separately to the production crew about how important children are to them and how much they love seeing the other with kids. Logan calls it “hot”, and Jason says that he could see her stepping into the role of stepmom easily – he has two children back on his farm. It again raises the question of why there is another woman in the picture who doesn’t want children.
He openly says at the kitchen table that he’s more in line with Logan, as he wants more kids. Logan’s stepmom asks the question on all our minds, namely, why is Poppy in the running if he wants kids? He gives a non-answer that leads to an awkward silence, broken by Logan’s niece saying she believes she’ll have more kids. But with whom, Spencer? That’s the question.
After the tough lunch talk, Logan and Jason go out for a date in Yamba before his final decision.
During their date, Logan asks how he feels about her town and then says very leadingly that it’s a great place for “weekends and holidays”, i.e. she’s happy to move to the farm ASAP.
Logan openly tells Jason that she knows that she’s had a very different life to Poppy, who has “done stuff” and travelled, but she’s happy about her life choices. But she’s keen to explore the world with her kids and her partner.
“I think we would have such a great life together,” she tells him, and he leans in for a kiss. Come on now. Unless Poppy has a complete 180, I cannot see this going any other way.
Back with Farmer Zac, he’s at Mieke’s home just 20 minutes away from his own farm. So if he doesn’t choose her, it could be awkward at the local.
Mieke took a while to come out of her shell, but he really feels a lot for her. However, he knows Maya better. They arrive together, and Maya introduces Zac to her parents, sister and cousin. He says at the table that “mothers know best”, so he pulls her aside for a private chat.
He tells Linda all about the spark that he felt when he first met Mieke.
“She’s probably scared of being hurt,” her mum says of Mieke’s timidness at the start.
Ahead of their final date, Zac confirms to production that he was relieved to know that Mieke is a bit more reserved.
“Communication is a big part of me,” Zac tells Mieke and asks her (in quite a roundabout way) how they will navigate communication in their potential relationship.
“It’s been a long time since I’ve felt that way for someone,” Mieke shares, looking visibly uncomfortable; her feelings scared her, and she says she put up walls as that’s how she defends herself.
“I don’t want to get hurt, and it does scare me because I do care so much. In turn, it makes it harder for everyone else.”
But she says she’s working on it. Zac says that they love what they’ve built and “where it’s going”. Interesting…the more open and honest Mieke he has at the dinner date is the Mieke he wants; seemingly, it’s the wife he wants as well. He’s got a big decision to make.
Farmer Jason then heads to Ipswich, Poppy’s hometown, for “adult time”, meaning time with someone more his vintage.
He adds that they get on really well; they are attracted to each other, but the biggest issue is that she doesn’t want more kids and he does. However, she did say in a previous episode that she might change her mind on that. So maybe they could compromise? Which wouldn’t be good news for Logan.
Instead of meeting the family, she gives him a tour of the town and the houses she’s sold in her convertible with her dog on his lap.
“Very big difference to his ute,” she tells production. Too right.
“I do wonder if she’ll have time for me,” Jason says to production, who adds that he doesn’t know how he would fit into her life as she’s very driven and has a thriving career in Ipswich.
She then drives them to her best friend’s house. It’s important to her that her best friend Ally and her partner Clarky like her potential life partner.
Ally does ask about his children and how Poppy would fit into his family unit – she advises that it would be gradual. When Jason asks if Poppy would find life on the farm boring, Ally says that she’s a “country girl at heart.”
When Poppy returns to the table, Ally asks point-blank if having no kids would be a dealbreaker for Jason. We love a direct question.
“I would like to have at least one more kid if I’m lucky enough,” Jason responds.
Poppy adds, “Never say never”, but is that enough for Jason?
On their date, Poppy says that she’s not concerned about moving to the country, and she adds that she’s “so willing to co-parent”
“I know we are going to be a family unit,” she adds, but she doesn’t say she would be open to having children with him.
He does say that he could compromise on children. Poppy opens up about not having felt this way in a long time, and they finish the date with a passionate kiss.
Back on the farm, it’s decision time for Farmer Jason. As he suits up, he is measuring up the two women he has to choose between.
Great chemistry and relationship with Poppy, or a potentially rich family life with Logan, who is also ten years younger than him.
Poppy and Jason speak first. He tells her that he’s been interested in her from the first moment he saw her bio and loved their chats. But… there’s a but.
“Even though we get on really well, there’s a big difference in our future plans,” he says, i.e. children. “I’ve always said I wanted to have more kids, and you’ve been honest and upfront about your thoughts on that. I have said no to women in the past who haven’t wanted kids, and it does scare me that I might not have them.”
It sounds like a break-up; the music is sad, and Poppy looks scared. But is this a misdirect?
Then we see Logan arrive, and as they greet each other, Jason’s voice is shaking.
“When we first met, I could tell you were a bit shy, but honestly, I was extremely nervous because I was attracted to you straight away. I know it took a while for our first date, but it was worth the wait,” he tells her.
“I felt as though we could just sit and chat all night, and I could feel our connection growing. And with us both being parents, I felt it very easy to connect with you.”
“You’re a beautiful special person, and I really appreciate that you’ve never wanted to change anything about me or who I am.” Something that maybe can’t be said of Poppy. He takes a breath, and the music sadly changes, and the unexpected happens.
“You deserve love; you’ll make a fantastic partner, but unfortunately my heart is with someone else. I’m sorry.”
He breaks down and cries, and she tells him that it’s all good and she’s grateful to have met him.
“I hope he’s happy and gets what he wants,” she tells the crew. But she’s clearly devastated by his choice.
Back with Poppy, whom we know now is his choice, he says he’s willing to take a chance on her.
“Maybe it’s a risk, and it might not pay off, but I’m willing to take that chance,” he tells her. “You’ve made me a better person; you’ve made me a better man. Will you come back to the farm with me?”
They agree that they’ve both come out with a prize! Well, I’m happy for them and hope it works out.
Now it’s Farmer Zac’s decision.
First up to speak with Zac is Mieke, who didn’t have to travel far to his farm – something he opens with.
“I can’t believe this whole time you were just down the road from me,” he starts. “Who knows where we would be if we met sooner?”
He talks about how their start was so rocky, with them both being very awkward with one another.
“I love how much you’ve opened up, the banter and the sassiness,” he tells her. “The chemistry we have and the spark is undeniable.”
He again repeats “what if”, which is leading me to think that Mieke isn’t his choice…
“When it comes to the future, I can’t keep thinking about the ‘what ifs’; I have to do what I think is best. It’s not something I can see with you, with us.”
He breaks down and apologises, whereas Mieke is quite stoic, those walls clearly going back up again.
“I’m definitely a little bit heartbroken,” she tells production. “It’s really hard to get rejected by someone, especially someone that I was falling for. I’ve never been in love; no one has ever loved me. It’s a really horrible feeling.”
There’s someone out there for you, Mieke! I hope she finds her person.
“I will find my person one day; it just wasn’t today.”
The music soars as Maya walks up to the lake’s dock to await Zac’s decision – which the audience now knows is going to be Maya.
“You’ve been an absolute bundle of joy…I’m truly grateful for it,” he tells her.
He admits that when she told him she was thinking of leaving, that was the moment that he felt like she was worth fighting for.
“I didn’t come here to take the easy option. You’re someone I can wholeheartedly see a future with,” he adds. “I am absolutely falling for you.”
“Would you want to come…” he doesn’t even get the full question out before Maya kisses him and says yes.
“I am the lucky lady at the end,” she says to production.
But the one question he does get out: “Will you be my date for my sister’s wedding?”
“Of course,” she says. Has this whole thing been an elaborate ploy for a plus one to a wedding? If so, it’s really worked out for Farmer Zac.
