Princess Catherine has long championed children’s education, driving home the importance of those early years of development.
The Duchess of Cambridge has once again spoken out, but this time she focuses on the negative impacts of mobile mobiles which is creating a “epidemic of disconnection” that disrupts modern family life.

Catherine discussed this message in a essay titled The Power of Human Connection in a Distracted World, written in collaboration with Professor Robert Waldinger from Harvard Medical School.
“While digital devices promise to keep us connected, they frequently do the opposite,” they wrote. ““We sit together in the same room while our minds are scattered across dozens of apps, notifications, and feeds. We’re physically present but mentally absent, unable to fully engage with the people right in front of us.”
While the benefits of new technology were recognised, the Princess acknowledges its “troubling role.”
“Our smartphones, tablets, and computers have become sources of constant distraction, fragmenting our focus and preventing us from giving others the undivided attention that relationships require,” Catherine and Prof Robert write.
“We’re raising a generation that may be more ‘connected’ than any in history while simultaneously being more isolated, more lonely, and less equipped to form the warm, meaningful relationships that research tells us are the foundation of a healthy life,” she writes.

Despite their status as working royals, the family is not untouchable by the problems presented by screens.
Princess Catherine, who a loving mother of three children, Prince Louis, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, has taken proactive steps in her own home with husband, Prince William. The Duke and Duchess enforce a very strict “no phones” policy for their own children.
Prince William commented on the no smartphone police during an episode of Eugene Levy’s travel series, The Reluctant Traveller.
“We sit and chat, none of the children have phones,” the Prince said at the time.”[It’s something] we are really strict about.”
