If you missed episode 14, aka the finale, of the 2026 Farmer Wants A Wife season, don’t worry! Allow me to recap it for you, but beware, serious spoilers lie ahead…
I have been covering this show for the better part of a decade. This popular reality show, responsible for 11 marriages and close to 30 children, is a mainstay on Aussie television.
One of its alumni, Farmer David and Emily McMahon, joined us on The Australian Women’s Weekly Love Stories podcast. They spoke about their time on the show. And they brought along their 8-week-old daughter, Willa! Watch the episode here.
I can NOT believe this is it for Farmer Wants A Wife 2026! In what feels like the blink of an eye, we’ve arrived at the final episode (not including the reunion, obviously). So, let’s jump right in, shall we?
SPOILERS ahead!
Episode 14
Episode 14 started with Natalie Gruzlewski giving us a rather succinct recap of the season.
“So far, three of our farmers have found love,” she said. To which I immediately thought, ‘Don’t lie to me, Natalie!’ I’m still upset that Alex and Eddy barely made it a few weeks after filming wrapped.
Now, I don’t know about you, dear reader, but I’m personally dying to find out whether Zac and Maya and Jason and Poppy are still together. Not wanting to be BLINDSIDED again like I was by Alex and Eddy’s break-up, I’ve been researching tirelessly. Still, sadly, nothing concrete about Zac and Maya’s or Jason and Poppy’s current relationship status has been confirmed yet. (Watch this space.)
The episode then jumped right into Farmer Dylan and Farmer Jarrad meeting the families of their final two ladies.
Dylan met Scarlett’s family first. It was immediately clear that Scarlett comes from money. She has a horse, a huge house, and she went to a boarding school in France. And Scarlett’s mum did not seem too impressed when she learnt that Dylan had never left Australia.
Scarlett’s dad then took Dylan for a man-to-man, and I have to admit I liked that he was pretty upfront and open about his daughter. He flat-out told Dylan that Scarlett is “a lot to handle”. And as her dad, he just wanted to make sure Dylan was up to the task of “handling” her. His words, not mine.
The sheep farmer didn’t really answer; he just gulped and awkwardly laughed. Poor guy.
Later, when Scarlett and Dylan were alone, she said she thought Dylan “fit in really well” and “definitely got the tick of approval”.
But he bravely admitted that Scarlett’s family seemed “too flash” for him, and after meeting them, he was extremely concerned that he would not be able to provide for her in the manner to which she was accustomed.
Scarlett brushed it off and said, “For me, money means nothing.”
If I had been there, I would’ve quoted Leonardo DiCaprio in The Aviator: “That’s because you HAVE it.”
However, Scarlett’s remark seemed to put Dylan at ease. Later on, she admitted that she was falling for Dylan, and the two kissed.
Meanwhile, Jarrad travelled to Geelong and met Yvonne’s family.
If you’ve been reading my recaps, you’ll know I don’t particularly like Jarrad. And I’ve honestly wondered if I’m a little confused because everyone else on the show seems to be absolutely charmed by him.
Thankfully, I can now put my mind at ease as Yvonne’s sisters and friends were NOT impressed by Jarrad whatsoever. Some of my favourite things the sisters and friends said about Jarrad (that I completely agree with, by the way) include:
- “There’s no passion or excitement.”
- “He’s very vague, and he’s repeating the same things over and over again.”
- “He’s not for her [Yvonne]. I don’t see that working out to be a long-term relationship.”
Later in the evening, when Jarrad and Yvonne were alone, she asked how he felt about her.
Jarrad replied, “You’re wife material; I could see you being my wife and living on the farm with me.” But he sounded incredibly insincere while saying this. And I wasn’t the only one who noticed.
“I feel like Jarrad was a little off this evening,” Yvonne told producers. She went on to say that Jarrad didn’t kiss her at all during the family lunch or during their private dinner date. If that’s not a sign that Jarrad’s not interested in Yvonne, I don’t know what is. Looks like we know he’ll pick Brodie at the end of this episode… But, of course, I’m getting ahead of myself!
Next, Dylan met Ally’s “Granny Annie” as well as her two best friends.
Granny Annie is an absolute sweetheart and clearly just wants her granddaughter to be happy. She also imparted some serious wisdom: “I know two people can make anything work. As long as they’re committed, it’ll be okay.”
Honestly, the whole family meeting went off without a hitch. It was clear Dylan got on very well with Ally’s family and friends. Something he confirmed when he later said to Ally during their private, final date of the season:
“I felt real welcomed; I felt at home.”
But after that, Dylan demanded that Ally let her guard down. “I need to know exactly how you feel. I know that’s difficult, but I need to know,” he said.
And Ally finally – after dodging it all season – complied. “If I’m dead honest, I am falling in love with you,” she said.
“I– thank you,” Dylan replied.
I wholeheartedly believe he wanted to say he was falling in love with her too but obviously couldn’t – producers discourage the farmers from admitting their true feelings before the final decision is made. So, he quickly stopped himself and lamely said ‘thank you’ instead. Poor Ally. No one likes hearing ‘thank you’ when it comes to love.
Jarrad then went to meet Brodie’s parents, sister and best friend. I couldn’t help but notice that the flowers he brought Brodie’s family were much nicer than the flowers he brought Yvonne’s family. Definitely a sign that Jarrad will not be picking Yvonne, right?
In a stark contrast to Yvonne’s family, Brodie’s family loved Jarrad. But I do think he was much more charming and engaged with them than he was with Yvonne’s family. Another sign?
On their final date, Brodie admitted her feelings for Jarrad were strong but was scared that she wasn’t “enough,” as in the past she’s always been seen as the safe, stable option and has been dumped a few times for a more “exciting” woman.
Jarrad didn’t really say anything to this beautifully, vulnerable admission (boo, Jarrad, boo! I kid, I know the producers wouldn’t have let him say anything anyway). Instead, he kissed her.
And just like that, it was final decision time. And in a Farmer Wants A Wife first, a woman dumped a farmer at the final decision ceremony before he had even revealed who had chosen!
Yvonne arrived, and before Jarrad could say anything, she jumped right in and gave a little speech:
“I have been open and vulnerable and more honest than I thought I would be. But I don’t feel like you’ve even met me halfway. I feel like I’ve been begging for answers that I never got… The feedback from my friends and family solidified the way that I felt.
“Brodie is an amazing woman, and I didn’t see the connection you two had during this amazing experience. I do still want to find my love, but I’m so sorry you’re not my farmer. Goodbye,” Yvonne said.
Jarrad replied (rather bluntly in my opinion), “‘Kay, bye bye.” There was no “I understand.” No hug. No nothing. I don’t really understand why Jarrad’s reaction was so cold. Especially as he admitted to producers right after Yvonne left that he was going to pick Brodie and break up with Yvonne anyway?
At least Jarrad was much kinder when Brodie arrived.
“You’d have to be the most grounded and genuine person I’ve ever met. I know you’d make an amazing wife and mother. I want you to know that you are enough, and Brodie, I choose you. I’m falling in love with you,” the almond farmer confessed.
Brodie immediately kissed Jarrad, and then he gave her a bracelet which had her birthstone in it.
I’m sorry, but I felt literally nothing watching this entire exchange. I guess it’s because Jarrad has just never been my cup of tea. I hope for Brodie’s sake that I’m wrong about him and the two live happily ever after. That sounds like I’m being sarcastic, but I’m not. I genuinely do wish them all the best.
As for Dylan, he spoke to Scarlett first. He began by saying numerous nice things about her, but then came the inevitable ‘but’.
“But I have had concerns. After meeting your family and seeing your lifestyle, I am worried that I can’t provide that. And I know you’ve told me you’re low maintenance, but I’m not sure you’ve had to live without that life,” Dylan said.
“I have to lead with my heart. I’m really sorry, Scarlett, but it’s not us,” he continued, holding back tears.
Scarlett took the break-up so calmly. She hugged him and said she understood his concerns. She even told Dylan he was brave and she wished him and Ally all the best.
I hope Jarrad is watching this episode because he should take note: Scarlett’s reaction to being broken up with is how HE should’ve acted when Yvonne broke up with him. Sorry for bringing Jarrad up again; I just couldn’t resist dragging him one last time.
At last, Ally arrived, and Dylan professed his love. Literally.
“This final decision has been made from my heart and from what my gut tells me to do. And I have to follow how I feel. And I love you. I love you a lot,” he said.
And my god, it was very sweet when Ally’s immediate reaction was, “Me?!”
She then started laughing before embracing Dylan. And I hate to admit it, but I shed a tear or two.
Hopefully, Dylan and Ally are still together and can fill the hole that Alex and Eddy’s short-lived romance left in my heart because I frankly can’t see Jason and Poppy working out long-term, considering that he wants kids and she doesn’t. Also, I think Zac is too immature for a serious relationship right now, and as I said before, I don’t care about Jarrad (sorry, Brodie, you seem nice).
We’re all just going to have to wait and see what happens in the 2026 Farmer Wants A Wife reunion episode… Stay tuned!
