Episode five of Farmer Wants A Wife 2026 added a little more drama than we’re used to experiencing on the hit show, warning spoilers ahead!
I have been covering this show for the better part of a decade and am well-versed in its lore and parlance. This popular reality show, responsible for 11 marriages and close to 30 children, is getting a little messy this year. And I’m (perhaps controversially) on the side of the villain.
If you missed episode five of the 2026 Farmer Wants A Wife season, you missed a doozy! So allow me to recap it for you, but beware, serious spoilers lie ahead…

Episode 5
Episode five of Farmer Wants A Wife 2026 picked up the morning after the Annual Country Ball.
If you didn’t catch it or just want to re-live it through my eyes, please read on, but beware that there are lots of spoilers to come (and you should definitely read my detailed recaps of episodes one, two, three and four too).
All of the farmers took one of their ladies on a solo date in episode five. Dylan was up first, and he took Scarlett to a rodeo, one of his great passions.
“Rodeo is such a huge part of my life,” he explained to her. Thankfully, Scarlett had a great time at the rodeo, and Dylan’s feelings for her grew.
“I feel so, so, so attracted to Scarlett,” he gushed to producers.
At the end of the night, Scarlett admitted to Dylan, “I definitely do like you,” and the two shared a smooch. Dylan’s now kissed three of his four contenders; he certainly moves fast!
Alex took Suzannah to a beautiful waterfall so they could swim and enjoy a picnic on their solo date. He admitted to producers that he was excited for his date with Suzannah as he was previously “laser focused” on Eddy, but since learning she’s religious (he’s not), he has realised he needs to get to know every single one of the girls on his farm to see who he’s most compatible with.
Sadly, I didn’t see much chemistry between Alex and Suzannah. They did kiss while on their date, but it didn’t seem that passionate to me, and when he told producers after the date, “I can see the potential for feelings to grow for Suzannah,” I physically cringed.
Yes, he said it positively, but two episodes ago, he was saying romantic things like “I’m smitten,” and “She’s got the most phenomenal eyes,” about Eddy. I get Alex is probably a bit more reserved now since the whole ‘Eddy said grace’ incident, but he needs to have some sort of spark with his future wife.
Zac took this season’s ‘villain’ Miranda, on a solo date to a local flower farm. On the drive there, they came up with their couple name à la Brangelina: “Zacaranda” (pronounced like jacaranda).
Then, during the date, Miranda opened up about her past relationship ending “badly.” And Zac was glad he got to see a softer, more vulnerable side of Miranda. By the end of the night, the two were practically making out.
But back at Zac’s farm, Grace, Mieke and Maya got together to drink wine and, there’s no other way to describe it, bitch. Grace said to the other women that she’ll be concerned if Zac develops feelings for Miranda because “she has said terrible things.”
Grace then told Maya that Miranda said something mean about her behind her back. Maya obviously wanted to know what *exactly* was said, so Grace complied: “She said you were desperate for taking Zac aside for a chat [at the Country Ball]”.
What is this high school?! For goodness sake, I’m sorry, and I know I’ll be in the minority here for defending Miranda, but, for starters, no one here is innocent. At the time, Mieke agreed that it was “desperate” and then said behind Maya’s back, “She’s trying way too hard.” Why wasn’t that brought up during this session? And Grace, you said some not-so-nice things about Jessica before she left, so should Zac not develop feelings for you???
Secondly, I think gossiping like this behind Miranda’s back and blowing things slightly out of proportion is just as bad as the original “desperate” comment. I paused the episode at this point just so I could look up how old Grace, Mieke and Maya are because they were acting oh, so childish (at least, in my opinion). In case you’re wondering, they are 25, 22 and 22, respectively.
Anyway, back to the solo dates!
Jason took Poppy for a thoughtful horse ride (Poppy previously voiced that she loves horses). They had a refreshingly frank conversation about past relationships, and Poppy admitted that while she’s very guarded, she’s still open to love.
Poppy then bluntly asked Jason how he feels about Jessie, Jessica and Beth all leaving of their own accord. He bravely disclosed that he is a bit “deflated”, but he is also grateful that Poppy and Logan are still there. Jason then smoothly added that he very much enjoys Poppy’s company. This led to a kiss, and I believe there’s some potential there.
Admittedly, there are not as many sparks between Jason and Poppy as there were between him and Beth, but something magical could blossom between them. Jason was obviously feeling optimistic as he told producers, “I could see a future here.”
As for the last solo date, Jarrad took Yvonne to a winery to make pizzas in a traditional woodfire oven. The two got very cosy and ended up cuddling in the same canopy daybed while it rained. It was actually very romantic.
Meanwhile, Carly told producers that she doesn’t think there’s a strong spark between Jarrad and Yvonne. And I have to agree.
Yes, Jarrad told producers, “I feel at peace when I’m around Yvonne; it’s a really nice feeling,” but he did not seem enthusiastic to kiss her during the solo date. They shared a quick peck, and it was clear Yvonne wanted more, but he swiftly pulled away. Then she practically begged, “One more”. And sure, they pecked again, but it was very brief. Not like the long kiss Jarrad shared with Carly on their 24-hour date.
The episode then skipped forward to the next day. Jarrad took his ladies to the Murray River, where he spends most of his summers. When the almond farmer asked if anyone wanted to join him for some water sports, Carly eagerly volunteered (she found out Jarrad and Yvonne kissed and wanted to make sure Jarrad still had feelings for her).
But Yvonne became very jealous that Jarrad put his arm around Carly repeatedly while they were out on the water. Great, looks like more drama is on the way. Seriously, what happened to my sweet and wholesome Farmer Wants A Wife?! Attention Channel 7 execs: we do not want this much chaos. That’s what Married At First Sight is for.
Meanwhile, Zac took his ladies to his local footy club and revealed that he had challenged Dylan and his ladies to a friendly game. All of Zac’s contenders eagerly agreed to play, but Renae was the only one of Dylan’s contenders who stepped up.
Dylan was not happy. He said he was “embarrassed” and “disappointed” that none of the others wanted to play. Whereas I was delighted that my personal favourite lady this season, Renae, was finally getting a chance with Dylan.
After the game of footy, everyone retreated to the local pub, and lo and behold, Zac’s twin sister Isobel was there, ready to meet (and judge) the ladies vying for her brother’s heart.
While at the pub, Dylan was very forthcoming and admitted he was disappointed in Ally, Scarlett and Lily. Sadly, Ally and Scarlett immediately started laughing at Dylan, not realising he was genuinely upset. But when they realised he was serious, they apologised for not playing, as did Lily.
Ally then immediately pulled Dylan for a private chat to again apologise, for both not playing footy and for laughing at him when he expressed his feelings. But Ally also said that Dylan should’ve told her, Scarlett and Lily at the time that participating in the footy game was important to him. I was actually very impressed by how open both Dylan and Ally were.
However, I think the whole affair has really upset Dylan, and Ally might not be the frontrunner for his heart anymore…
Elsewhere in the pub, Isobel was grilling Zac’s ladies one by one. Maya was up first, and after Isobel persisted, she ended up divulging that Miranda had made some nasty comments about the other girls and that she’s very “materialistic”.
Maya started to cry at this point and whispered, “I don’t like talking badly [sic].” And honestly, in my opinion, she shouldn’t have said anything at all about Miranda to Isobel. Maya wasn’t even there when Miranda made the “mean comments,” so how can she 100 per cent know that they were made?
Yes, I know Miranda did indeed call Maya “desperate”, but how can Maya truly know that? Plus, my earlier point still stands: Miranda hasn’t done or said anything worse than Grace, Mieke and now Maya (surely she knew by saying what she said about Miranda to Isobel would sabotage Miranda’s chances with Zac; that’s pretty bad in my opinion).
I implore you to see past Miranda’s confidence, which is likely a defence mechanism, and past her edit, which is definitely making her look far worse than she probably is.
After speaking with Maya, Isobel immediately pulled Miranda aside and confronted her about making mean comments about the other girls. She also said that Zac’s other ladies don’t think Miranda is genuine.
“To my knowledge, I don’t think I have said anything to make anyone upset, but I think people are very jealous of me, and I’ve always dealt with that, so I think people will try to make things up about me,” Miranda calmly replied. “I’m disappointed that the girls have said things about me,” she added with tears welling in her eyes.
I don’t think Isobel was too impressed with Miranda, and my suspicion was confirmed when she later met up with Zac and shared that Maya told her Miranda made a nasty comment. I’m sorry but this has turned into a seriously pathetic he said, she said situation.
While Isobel was having this conversation with Zac, Miranda went and confronted the other women.
“Who here feels as though I’m not genuine?”
Maya was quick to defend herself: “I never said you weren’t genuine.” No, but you did imply it by calling her ‘materialistic’.
Grace jumped in next and said, “I don’t think I’ve ever said that, but you’ve definitely said things that haven’t sat well with me… Like when you called Maya desperate the other night.”
Miranda calmly asked what the context was of her calling Maya desperate, and after Grace gave it to her (she said it when Maya asked Zac for a private chat just moments after Jessica left FWAW for good, and Zac was obviously upset), she stood her ground.
“I think it was the wrong timing, 100 per cent. And I would have said that to Maya[’s face]. Whoever said that I have gone and spoken about people behind their back, this is talking about me behind my back… why would you go and tell Zac’s sister that I’m not genuine [sic]?”
Grace flat-out denied saying anything about Miranda to Isobel. So then Miranda correctly deduced it must have been Maya.
But Maya is an expert at deflection and said, “I’ve never said those words directly. I may have-”
Miranda quickly cut her off and asked, “Why have you never brought it up with me? That you think I’m not genuine [sic]. I think this is a conversation we could have had before you brought any of it up with Zac’s sister.”
Again, I know I’m going to be in the minority here, but I actually felt sorry for Miranda, and I completely agree with everything she said during this ‘fight’. She was spitting nothing but facts. Sorry, not sorry.
Maya defended herself by saying, “I’m not a confrontational person.”
Miranda jumped in again with, “But you are behind my back?”
“I’m not going to sit in front of Zac’s sister and say that you have not not been mean to anyone,” Maya replied.
First of all, I love a double negative. Secondly, how can Maya be so confident about what was said when she wasn’t there (I know the comment was made because I saw footage of it, but Maya didn’t; she is literally taking Grace’s word for it)? And finally, what else has Miranda done that was mean?!
Yes, the “desperate” comment was a little mean, but I really don’t think she’s done anything else thus far that could be constituted as such.
And c’mon! You have to agree that the mature move for Maya would have been to speak to Miranda about the comment as soon as Grace told her, and clear the air. I honestly think spreading gossip (which is literally what this is) to Zac’s sister is much meaner than saying someone’s “desperate”.
Miranda (rightfully) then said to Maya, “If you have an issue with me, bring it up with me.”
This is when Grace excused herself from the table in tears because she couldn’t handle the confrontation, despite not really being in Miranda’s firing line.
Miranda and Maya continued to bicker, and I will admit that near the end of the conversation, Miranda’s tone became a little patronising, but she still didn’t say anything untrue!
I know people are going to get their bee in an absolute bonnet reading this, but please go back and re-watch the final scene. I’ve now watched it about six times, and I’m sorry, there really was no need for Maya to speak poorly about Miranda to Isobel, and Miranda has every right to be upset. And to use Miranda’s phrasing, “talking sh*t to Zac’s sister” is certainly worse than calling someone desperate.
Maya ended up crying and walking away from Miranda. And that was the episode! I have a feeling this isn’t the end of this drama, though, and there will be serious fallout in episode six; stay tuned.
