The fourth episode of Farmer Wants A Wife 2026 added a little more drama than we’re used to experiencing on the hit show.
I have been covering this show for the better part of a decade and am well-versed in its lore and parlance. This popular reality show, responsible for 11 marriages and close to 30 children, is later than usual this year, but let’s hope the 2026 season of FWAW was worth the wait!
If you missed episode four of the 2026 Farmer Wants A Wife season, you missed a doozy! So allow me to recap it for you, but beware, serious spoilers lie ahead…

Episode 4
It was the Annual FWAW Country Ball, which in earlier seasons was a nice night of line dancing and cowboy boots, but in previous seasons had been a night rife with drama. And the 2026 Country Ball (sadly) fell into the latter category.
To backtrack, episode four kicked off at Jason’s farm, the morning after the non-elimination (and Jessica’s meltdown), which transpired right at the end of episode three.
And Jessica has decided to go home. “I’m disappointed that Jason chose not to send anyone home, so I’m actually not going to stay,” she explained to producers.
Good riddance, I say. I genuinely think Jason is on Farmer Wants A Wife for the right reasons, and he’s a little sweetheart who doesn’t deserve to be treated the way Jessica treated him the previous evening.
“I feel a little bit deflated about it… A little sad about it. But I’ve still got three ladies left, and I’m keen to get to know them. I just don’t want them to leave,” Jason told producers. My heart really breaks for him. It’s clear he’s taking Jessie, and now Jessica is leaving very personally.
On Zac’s farm, Jessica (a different Jessica from the one who left Jason) was rather morose again. She really can’t cope with the format of Farmer Wants A Wife: the farmer dating multiple women at once.
Meanwhile, Miranda and her “new bestie Mieke” (host Natalie Gruzlewski’s words, not mine) explored the apple farm. I actually hate how villainous Miranda is being portrayed this season. God forbid a woman has confidence.
Miranda and Mieke discussed Zac not sending anyone home at the previous night’s elimination. And then they agreed they find it annoying that Jessica clearly doesn’t want to be on the farm but hasn’t volunteered to leave,
“I want her to go,” Mieke said.
“She’s wasting our time, she’s wasting Zac’s time, and it’s not a fair situation,” Miranda added.
On Alex’s farm, he confronted Eddy about saying grace at dinner the previous evening (if you missed episode three, Alex was smitten with Eddy until it became apparent that she’s somewhat religious and he’s not).
“I’m not religious at all, but I wanted to see where you’re at with your faith,” Alex said to Eddy, not beating around the bush.
Eddy clarified that she’s not a devout Christian or anything, but she believes there’s “something” out there. She added that she wants her kids to be Christened, but she doesn’t want to raise a family that goes to church every single Sunday and says grace before every single meal.
Eddy then asked whether Alex is an atheist. He said he’s more “agnostic” (which simply means the mushroom farmer believes it’s impossible for humans to know whether God or a higher power exists), and Eddy was pleased by his answer.
She then shared that her father is an atheist, and she has a bit of a strained relationship with him because of that.
After this rather serious chat, Eddy seemed satisfied that she and Alex were still on the same page. But I got the feeling Alex is in another book, let alone on the same page.
“There’s so much more to be talked about,” he told producers immediately after speaking to Eddy.
Before the Country Ball commenced, the farmers met up to have some male bonding time. Jason shared what went down on his farm with Jessie and Jessica, leaving of their own accord.
“I didn’t have to send anyone home; they’re all leaving me by themselves,” Jason told Zac, Alex, Dylan and Jarrad in a sad, small voice. Protect him at all costs!
Alex opened up next, sharing his concern about Eddy being religious with the other farmers.
“It’s really weighing on me,” he said before telling producers, “I’ve been so focused on Eddy, I barely know the other girls. I should probably make more of an effort to get to know them better.” Looks like Eddy’s faith is a serious dealbreaker for Alex.
Speaking of dealbreakers, right before the Country Ball, Beth told producers that she had found out her young daughter really misses her and is struggling. She ended up breaking down, saying through tears that she’s extremely torn. She can genuinely see a future with Jason and wants to stay for that reason, but her daughter is her priority, and if her daughter wants her back home, she needs to go back home.
On a lighter note, Natalie arrived and welcomed everyone to the Country Ball (shout out to Dylan, who looked like Ken from the Barbie movie, and I mean that as the highest of compliments).
The beloved host then informed everyone that by the end of the Country Ball, each farmer must choose a lady for the next solo date.
“I’m not going to let anyone stop me from getting that solo date with Jarrad,” Cara vowed to producers.
Next, everyone hit the dance floor, and out of nowhere, Dylan admitted that he’s now drawn to Scarlett. He pulled her for a private chat because they’ve “never spoken one-on-one”. And there are definite sparks.
Don’t get me wrong, I quite like Farmer Dylan, but I’m starting to think he’s a 24-year-old boy who finally has access to multiple women and is using the opportunity to sow his wild oats. Good on him. Let’s just hope he doesn’t seriously hurt any of his girls.
Back on the dance floor, Zac and Miranda were tearing it up. And Jessica was clearly not having a good time as a result.
“Seeing Miranda and Zac dance is hard… I feel like I’m getting in the way of other people’s connections,” she said before leaving the country ball in tears. Zac, seeing her leave upset, followed her.
Miranda and Zac’s other contenders (Mieke, Grace and Maya) were immediately irked. “Every time Zac is with another girl, tears,” Miranda angrily said to Mieke about Jessica.
I know Miranda’s the ‘villain’, but I tend to agree with her. Jessica has said she wants to go home multiple times now, meaning her connection with Zac isn’t strong enough to overcome the “reality” of reality television, so go home.
Ultimately, Jessica took my unheard advice and decided to go home… to the absolute delight of Miranda.
Elsewhere, Dylan and Ally went for a private chat. She confessed she feels “disheartened” that he hasn’t spoken to her properly since their 24-hour date. He apologised and admitted that he needs to get better at communicating. And I love that Ally stood her ground and said that from then on, he needs to keep her in the loop.
Dylan obviously loved that Ally stood her ground, too, as he ended up kissing her.
Jarrad then pulled Cara for a private moment. She asked why he picked women noticeably younger than him and whether he wanted more kids. He awkwardly laughed and said he’s open to having more kids.
The almond farmer later told producers, “Cara’s quite forward with what she wants, and she feels, and I like that about her… But I’m not sure if that assertiveness is good for me.”
Zac, a little upset that Jessica had officially left, decided to check in with his other women at this point. And I have to admit, I found it so funny that he was completely clueless about Miranda, Mieke, Grace and Maya being ecstatic about Jessica leaving.
Mid “check in”, Maya asked Zac for a private chat. He obliged, and as the two walked away, Miranda and Mieke were fuming.
“She’s trying way too hard,” they said in perfect unison. “It’s giving desperate,” Miranda added.
Zac, oblivious to Miranda and Mieke’s anger, had a rather deep conversation with Maya about past relationships and whether they want to get married and have kids one day (they both do).
As for Alex, he asked Suzannah for a private chat, and I’m honestly surprised he didn’t immediately ask her, “And where do you stand on religion?” to avoid another heartbreak.
But the two bonded over books, and he ended up telling producers, “She and I share similarities that Eddy and I don’t share.” Ouch. Looks like Eddy’s no longer the frontrunner.
Beth then pulled Jason for a chat, but immediately started sobbing. She confessed to him that her daughter’s not coping and so she’s made the decision to leave. Beth apologised profusely and added, “It’s important that you know, it’s nothing to do with you… And having to leave is pretty sh*t to be honest with you.”
Poor bloody Jason. He teared up slightly, and it was genuinely heartbreaking to watch as he said goodbye to Beth; there’s such an obvious chemistry between them. Can’t Beth just bring her daughter to the farm?!
“It does hurt obviously… I could see a potential [future] with her. Three girls gone in four days is just hard. Goes back to self-doubt. ‘Am I good enough?’,” Jason told producers (while I tried not to tear up at this gentle giant’s misfortune).
If Jason doesn’t forge a good connection with Poppy or Logan in future episodes, I really hope he and Beth can somehow make their way back to each other.
Meanwhile, Jarrad spent a moment alone with Yvonne. He asked about kids; she said she wants them and is more than happy to become a step-mum to his two boys. And this obviously impressed Jarrad. In fact, he kissed her and then told producers, “She’s really easy to talk to, and we’re on the same page.”
Whereas Miranda was now annoyed that Zac hadn’t yet pulled her for a private chat. In total contrast to the nice things Jarrad had just said to producers about Yvonne, she told producers that she would go home if Zac didn’t pull her aside by the end of the night.
Alright, it took me four episodes to get here, but I have to admit, at this stage of the episode, I thought, ‘Miranda is a touch dramatic at times’. But I also still think the editors are unfairly playing up her dramatic tendencies to paint her as a ‘villain’.
Case in point: When Zac noticed that Miranda was upset, he went to comfort her, and the two ended up having an open and honest chat. Zac confessed he thinks Miranda is out of his league and is a little intimidated, and Miranda assured him he doesn’t need to be afraid of her before the two shared a kiss. It would’ve been a nice moment if the editors hadn’t scored the scene with the most villainous, melodramatic music I’ve ever heard in my life. Honestly, the music that played was like something you’d hear moments before the killer is revealed in an Alfred Hitchcock film.
Obviously, the over-the-top score wasn’t playing in real life and didn’t influence Zac in any way, shape or form. “Feelings have definitely developed for Miranda,” the apple farmer confessed to producers.
Finally, the Country Ball came to an end, and Natalie asked the farmers which lady they’d each like to take on the next solo date.
Jarrad picked Yvonne while Dylan chose Scarlett; no surprises there. Admittedly, I think Dylan is making a huge mistake by not getting to know Renae better; I really can’t explain why, but I feel certain they would make a good couple.
Alex asked Suzannah to accompany him on the next solo date, and Jason picked Poppy.
In sad news for Jason, his decision might make another one of his ladies leave. “I feel like I’m here just because I haven’t left… If he’s not interested in me, I’m going home,” Logan told producers moments after Poppy was asked to go on the next solo date. Poor Jason just can’t catch a break.
Zac invited Miranda on the next solo date, and the Hitchcockian music picked up again. I’ve had enough of the drama! Sadly, I’ll have to endure it, though, because I’m hooked now and desperately want to know who each farmer picks to be his wife.
