Could there be a second season of Toni Collette’s latest thriller, Wayward?
It has been the question on everyone’s lips ever since the final episode of the series dropped to Netflix in September 2025.
Although Wayward was labelled a miniseries by the streaming giant, we cannot underestimate the power of a demanding audience nor a brilliant series.
So, The Weekly is curious as to whether or not Netflix will pursue a second season of Wayward. We dig for answers below.

Will there be a Wayward season two?
Given it was marketed as a limited series, Netflix has not renewed Wayward for a second season.
However, the creator of the eight-episode thriller, Mae Martin believes there is more to the story.
“I was told it was a miniseries, but there’s definitely more story to tell, I think,” Mae told TV Insider. “We left all those characters in crisis, basically. Hopefully it’s tied up enough that it’s satisfying to watch as a series.”
Would the cast return for Wayward season two?
While the creator is thrilled to continue the story, some of its cast members were a bit more cryptic. Particularly Toni Collette, who portrays Evelyn.

“It’s endlessly intriguing. Endlessly. So many places it could go for sure,” Toni told TV Insider.
However breakout star Alyvia Alyn Lind, who portrays Leila, was ecstatic by the idea, telling Decider “anytime, anywhere.”
What is the plot of Wayward?
Set in the fictional town of Tall Pines, Vermont, a mysterious school for teenagers hides many dark secrets.
Wayward closely follows the complicated lives of two teenagers and local police attempting to uncover the town’s sinister secrets.
