What is the plot of Dying for Sex?
Dying for Sex follows Molly Kochan, a woman who, after being diagnosed with terminal breast cancer, decides to leave her unhappy marriage and embarks on a journey of sexual exploration.
Is Dying for Sex based on a true story?
Yes, the series is based on a true story.
In 2015, the real Molly Kochan left her husband of 15 years after receiving a Stage IV cancer diagnosis, so she could fully explore her sexuality before dying.
Three years later, in 2018, Molly and her best friend Nikki Boyer recorded a podcast – also called Dying for Sex – to discuss her many trysts and capers.
And in 2020, a year after Molly passed away, the six-episode podcast was publicly released and quickly became a hit.
Who stars in the series?
Oscar nominee Michelle Williams – of Brokeback Mountain and My Week with Marilyn fame – stars in Dying for Sex as Molly Kochan.
Jenny Slate – of Saturday Night Live and It Ends with Us fame – plays Molly’s best friend, Nikki Boyer.
And Rob Delaney, David Rasche, Esco Jouléy, Jay Duplass, Kelvin Yu, and Sissy Spacek round out the cast.
Is there a Season 2 of Dying for Sex?
At this stage, Dying for Sex has not been renewed for a Season 2.
It’s extremely unlikely a second season will go ahead as the show was conceived as a miniseries.
Furthermore, and without giving too much away about the ending of Season 1, there isn’t anywhere obvious for the story to go.
But hey, The Last Thing He Told Me and Big Little Lies were also conceived as miniseries and both went on to have more than one season… So, watch this space.
